the fab pore range

{Gifted} A few weeks ago I was surprised to come home to a bright pink package on my doorstep and on further inspection I realised it was from Soap & Glory and I was instantly excited to see what was inside. I have been apart of the #babesofglory team and I hadn't received anything for a while since all the great Christmas gift sets that you can read about in my Soap & Glory Glitz The Season pos,t so this package was a big surprise. I was lucky enough to be gifted a few products from The Fab Pore range and their new product the Blot Right Now Blotting Sheets which I needed to try out right away.

When I realised that the whole range was focussed on problematic skin and pore refining then I knew that I would instantly like this whole range. The products I received were The Fab Pore Purifying Foam Cleanser, Pore-Refining Sheet Mask and the new Blot Right Now Blotting Sheets. If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know that my skin is majority oily especially on my t-zone area and this whole range sounded like it would be perfect for me.

The Fab Pore Purifying Foam Cleanser £8.00

This was the first product that I noticed when I opened the package and was really excited to dive in and give it a go. This cleanser is different from other products that I've tried before being a foam formula. This product is catered for people with oily and combination skin (definitely me) and has the added ingredient of Witch Hazel which acts as an astringent to help shrink pores, soothes the skin and reduce inflammation.

Packaging & Product Amount
The packaging of this product is quite basic but is still pretty and has Soap & Glory's signature Vintage feel to it with the added colour of Pink! The label at the front has all the details of the product and the back has the directions of how to use the cleanser and the ingredients. To make this cleanser come out as foam the liquid is in a clear green foam bottle. There isn't anything too spectacular about the packaging of this product but it does the job. The amount of product that you get in this cleanser is 200ml which is pretty generous but when I was looking at a few of my other cleansers like my Garnier Micellar water which is 400ml I noticed that it was slightly less but then I think it's great for the £8 price tag!

First Impression
I used this cleanser after a long day of wearing a lot of makeup and I thought it would be the perfect time to give it a go. The first thing I would say it about this cleanser is that a little of this product goes a long way, I pumped it twice and it was actually a little bit too much. I noticed the smell straight away as well when using this cleanser, its a really fresh scent with a hint of witch hazel but it isn't too overpowering and while your cleansing the smell gradually goes away.

To make this cleanser lather up properly you do need to add some water and then you get a good amount of foam to cleanse your whole face and neck. After using the cleanser I did notice that my skin felt a lot smoother and my pores were noticeably smaller especially on my nose which is my main problem area. I didn't feel like this product dried out my skin which I have found from other products that contain either witch hazel or tea tree.

The Fab Pore Pore-Refining Sheet Mask £3.50

Sheet masks have always been a favourite of mine, they are so easy to apply and remove which I love (probably because I'm a bit lazy). This was another product that I really wanted to try out straight away as any anything that claims to reduce the size of your pores then sign me up! This sheet mask contains the added ingredients of tea tree, eucalyptus and white willow bark which draws out impurities. This mask claims to achieve shine-free skin in a quick and easy way.

Packaging & Product Amount
The packaging of the sheet mask is very similar to most sheet masks being in the single-use packaging. The front of this sheet mask has the usual vintage design with the lady on the front with perfect skin (that we all want!). A Soap & Glory product will never be a true Soap & Glory product if it didn't have a fun pun on the front with the one for this product being 'Beauty Mask Haves' get it? The product amount for this sheet mask is 29g and looking at my other masks with some of them only being 20g this mask has quite a bit more product.

First Impression
After my cleansing routine using The Fab Pore cleanser I thought it would be a good time to try out this mask. I was going through a particularly bad time with my skin with it being extra oily and have the odd hormonal spot I wanted to see if this mask would help to improve that at all. When opening the package you could straight away tell that there was a lot of product on the mask as it was drenched in a gel. Applying it to the skin the mask felt extra cold but that was actually quite nice and gave the skin a cooling effect. I left the mask on for around 20 minutes and while wearing it I felt a tingling sensation but it wasn't too much and it stopped tingling after wearing it for a while.

After I removed the mask I could feel my skin felt smoother and softer and also my pores didn't look as large as they were before using this mask. I would need to use this mask a few times to really get the full benefits out of it and see if it really improved the appearance of my pores and keep my spots at bay. Another thing I noticed about this mask is that even when I finished using the sheet mask there was still quite a bit of product left so I decided to keep it for a few days and use it as a serum to make the most of all the product.

Blot Right Now Blotting Sheet £4.00

This was the product that I was really excited to try out and see if they really worked. I have used different blotting sheets in the past but never really stuck to them and forget I've even got them. Whenever I'm wearing makeup, even if it's pretty natural or full face I will always get oily in certain areas so I think I would be the perfect person to really try them out.

soap and glory blot right now blotting sheets

Packaging & Product Amount
The packaging of this product is what sets it apart from the other blotting sheets that I've used before. The sheets are in a plastic packaging which also has an added compact mirror which is perfect for using on the go. The size of the packaging is pretty compact and slim making it a great size to fit in your handbag or makeup bag. Like the other products from the range it also has its signature vintage feel to it which I love. You get around 30 sheets in this product which isn't bad but in the other blotting paper that I used to use which was the NYX Mattifying blotting paper, you get 50 sheets for also £4. With that being said I still think I would go for this product over that because of the added benefit of having a mirror and it is more travel-friendly.

First Impression
We have been having such amazing weather this bank holiday weekend and that's when I decided to give this product a go as when it gets hotter my skin seems to just get oilier. On this particular day, I was wearing quite a bit of makeup and knew this would be a good day to really test it out, you can see me giving these blotting sheets another test on my Instagram Makeup Highlights (don't forget to follow if you aren't already!).

After a few hours of wearing my makeup, I began to get oily around my main problem areas which are my nose, cheeks and chin and I started to pat away all the oil. The sheets worked pretty effectively and I only needed to use one sheet to remove all of the oil from my face. You only need to pat really lightly and don't rub as it may take some of your makeup off. The sheets took away the oil instantly and I looked matte straight away, I used to just apply powder but that eventually makes me look cakey. I needed to use the sheets two times that day so the claim that it keeps the skin shine free 6 hours didn't really work for me but that may just be for my skin because it can be extra oily at times.

  2. I've never tried anything from Soap & Glory although I do often give them as present for friends (sadly, no-one has returned the favour yet though). I have a very oily T-zone and go through a LOT of blotting papers so I might look out for the S&G ones next time I go shopping. Great review, Aaliyah, so detailed and thorough :) Lisa x

  4. Ooh those pore refining skincare products sound fab. I feel as though a lot of products boast it but so many don't actually follow through to smaller pores so it's great that you found these did. They're affordable too aren't they so I'll have to keep these in mind!

  5. I love the look and the sound of that foam cleanser - I always struggle to find a cleanser which isn't too harsh or drying on the skin so this sounds like a good option for me. Plus the blotting sheets sound like a great idea. Thanks for sharing x
