Another new month means another new Birchbox. Now we're all the way in August and the year as always is going really fast. This months box is so beautifully designed and really reminds me of summer (Even though while writing this it is currently raining and grey) because of the gorgeous yellow and orange shades. This month there's a range of products from Makeup, Skincare, Body care and haircare all in one box!

ModelCo Mermaid Glow Highlighter

This is the full-size product that you get in this months box. I have to say that the whole rainbow highlighter trend was never my favourite, I always found that when you swirled the colours all together the shade wasn't the nicest. The shades in this highlighter look slightly more pigmented in the pan than others that I've seen. I was looking forward to trying it until I actually swatched the product. I wasn't sure what the colour would come out like but I was slightly underwhelmed, the shade just turned out to be a silver highlighter which I don't think suits me too well. I also found that it was slightly more on the glittery side than glowy which I don't really like on me but I find it can look really lovely on other people. I may not use this product as a highlighter but I'm thinking that I might actually use it as an inner corner highlighter instead.

Balance Me Hyaluronic Plumping Mist

I have actually received quite a few Balance Me products in previous Birchboxes like the Pillow Spray in my July box and the Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream in my April box and these products I've really enjoyed so I was very excited to give this mist a go. Facial mists have become really popular recently in the beauty industry and I'm totally here for it, It's a quick way to add hydration into the skin easily. My skin is actually pretty oily so my main concern isn't hydration but I do get dehydrated areas and this mist sounds like the perfect product to use on my face. This mist has the added ingredient of hyaluronic acid which holds up to 6 litres of water which makes it the perfect ingredient for people with dry skin. I've been using this spray since I got the box and have actually been really enjoying it, I like to use it after I've toned my skin and before I apply my moisturiser. I love how fresh it makes my skin feel and it's very calming because of the added ingredient of chamomile. I will definitely be continuing to use this product (the full-size version is already in my basket).

Oribe Supershine Moisturising Cream

On first glance when I saw this product I initially thought it was a face moisturiser but when I have a proper look I saw it was from the haircare brand Oribe. Oribe is a more high-end haircare brand that I haven't tried any products from before but have heard all good things. This cream is a multitasking product that acts as both a leave-in conditioner on damp hair or styling cream to tame frizzy hair. Firstly I love the fact that its a two in one product as I think it justifies the £18 price tag more and secondly this product has the best scent it's so fresh but also quite sweet. I've used this product a couple of times and so far have been pretty impressed, I have only used it as a styling cream though as it wasn't hair washing time. I have a serious problem with flyaways, it doesn't matter how much I straighten my hair I will always get little bits sticking up so I thought I would see if this cream would help. At first, I only used a really small amount which I don't actually think was enough so I gradually added more and could see it did help to flatten the pesky flyaways. After a few hours, I did notice they were back but not as much as usual. I would like to see how this cream works if I also used it as a leave-in conditioner so I'll definitely be reusing this sample.

BIRCHBOX UK

Antatomicals Great British Flake Off

If you love a product with a pun then Anatomicals is definitely the brand for you. I have used another body care product from them the shower gel that I got in my February Birchbox that I actually took on holiday with me to Jamaica which I loved. The first thing I noticed about this scrub was the smell, it instantly reminded me of summer. This body scrub is an effective yet gentle formula that contains sweet almond oil and glycerin to deeply hydrate and smooth the skin, It also has the added ingredient of apricot seed powder which helps to buff and exfoliate the skin. Since getting back from holiday I have tried to keep my tan lasting as long as possible but now its time to buff away the dead skin and start again, I like that this scrub is gritty enough to remove dead skin but it is still comfortable to use on the skin. This scrub leaves the skin feeling extra smooth and it doesn't dry the skin down which some exfoliators can do but it actually leaves it feeling really smooth.

GLAMGLOW THIRSTYMUD Hydrating Mask Treatment

I think the theme of this months box was definitely hydration as this is another hydrating product. Any GLAMGLOW product that I've tried before I've loved, I got the Tropicalcleanse cleanser in my March Birchbox which I still use from time to time. GLAMGLOW is an American High-End skincare brand that is famous for its masks. This mask is mainly targetted towards people with dry skin so when I first tried out this mask I decided to only apply it on the areas that I needed more hydration like my cheeks and forehead. The consistency of this mask is quite thick which I like, I also like that this mud mask doesn't dry down like a clay mask but it does soak into the skin with the remaining needed to be wiped off with just a tissue and then I massaged in the rest of the mask. This left my skin feeling amazing and soft. You can also use it as an overnight treatment to future hydrate your skin.

Pin For Later...

So that's a wrap for another Birchbox month, this was a nixed box for me with most of the products being really great and a some not so. Have you tried any of these products before?

  2. I really like the idea of the hydrating theme, especially in August! It's a shame that the highlighter wasn't the prettiest but the skincare items sound great! I'd like to try the mist x

  4. Ahhh that body scrub sounds perfect for summer to deeply remove the sweat and dead skin from the body. Plus, the name is super cute, reminds me of The Great British Bake Off😂 I wanna try Oribe cream on my natural hair, which tends to get frizzy. I had no idea the product was two in one, good to know👌🏾

  10. What a great box! I've never tried one of these boxes, but the stuff in this one looks so good. I was never a fan of rainbow highlighters either, but I'm not mad at that shade xx
