Beauty Flatlay For Beauty Resolutions

Can you believe it we are now officially in 2020! It feels strange to even be typing it but the new year has now finally arrived. This means that we should all start making new years resolutions and because I never stick to mine if they include anything like sign up to the gym I thought this year I would make some Beauty resolutions that hopefully I can stick with!

1. Start using up more of the makeup already in my collection

If you have read any of my Collection posts in the past you will see that over the years I have collected quite a bit of makeup and now that I do have a lot I do find it hard to actually use it all up. The one thing that I don't really mind spending money on is makeup and I like trying out new things and testing formulas and different shades but that stops me from using up makeup that I already have in my collection. My first resolution is to go through all o my makeup and start using up some of the products that I already have (if it's still in date!) before I go out and start buying new things. I'm trying to start this year by saving money and doing this resolution I know I will save quite a bit by not makeup shopping at every opportunity I get. This resolution will also help me to rediscover more makeup that I've previously loved and that just got lost in the back of my drawers and forgotten about (lookout for a future rediscoveries blog post!).

2. Declutter my makeup collection

Following on from my previous resolution this one is to have a makeup clear out and declutter my makeup collection. I don't know about you but whenever I have a good clear out and clean up I feel so much better and that also is true for my makeup collection. Since it has taken me a few years to build up my collection I can guarantee that a few products like mascaras or liners are probably out of date and needs chucking away. When I do makeup declutters I put my products into 4 different categories, throw away, keep, donate and sell. If im going to sell a product I make sure that it's basically brand new and hardly used and I do that same for when I donate but if I've used it a bit more I'll give away products to friends and family. When I do a declutter and clean up it also gives me the excuse of going out and getting new storage for my makeup and I have a strange obsession with that.

3. Stick to the same skincare routine

Being a beauty blogger means that I'm constantly wanting to try out new products and even though I still want to do that going into 2020 I want to find a skincare routine that I actually stick to. I have done a Daytime Skincare Routine post a few months ago and I now only use a few of those products and for the sake of my skin, I need to find a routine that works for me that do day in and day out. Recently I have been getting the worst spots and in January my plan is to find all the right products that keep my spotty skin at bay and then when I find them I will stick with it and update you all on my skincare journey!

4. Start doing a body care routine

Every day I use any body cream that I have in the house and that really is the extent of my body care routine and in 2020 I want to have a full-blown routine with exfoliators and oils and everything. With body care products I've never really found any holy grails that I need to use every day but this year I want to find these and use them to create a routine that I love to do. For Christmas, I got a Liz Earl body care gift set that I've started using and have already become obsessed with so they will definitely be apart of my routine. I think with body care you have to find products that you really love to actually want to use them consistently and see the benefits from it (I'll keep you updated).

5. Try more colourful eyeshadow looks

Most of the palettes in my collection are all different variations of neutral shades, either more golden or coppery and I do love those colours but sometimes I really want to just wear a bright green or blue but I never really have the confidence to pull it off.  I have a few palettes in my collection that have really bright and vibrant shades but I never usually use them but this year I really want to step out of my comfort zone and start wearing really bright shades just because I want to and I'll rock a bright green eyeshadow look to work!

  2. I've had a massive clear out of my make up, so much had expired or was no longer usable and it was so refreshing!

  4. Yes to all this! I didn’t realize how much makeup I owned. Time to practice with the old so I can buy the new.

  5. I declutter a couple of times a year although sometimes I wish I was a little more strict with it. Using more of my collection was one of mine last year and I'm hoping to stick with it this year and find some true ride or die favourites in the process x

  6. I won't lie to you, all of your goals relate to me! I really need to stop buying new makeup and using the ones I have - in 2019 I put my self on a eyeshadow palette ban! I also need to focus more on my body, I really need to exfoliate and moisturise it more because I want to get into fake tan in 2020 aha x

    1. An eyeshadow palette ban sounds good because that’s the one products that I have a lot of and I’m always on the lookout for more! X

  7. I hadn't thought of doing beauty related goals but I actually need to do most of these! I have a huge storage desk full of products that I need to go through and sort out, particularly as I hardly use most of them. I'm excited to see what products you find that you had loved and forgotten, those are always so interesting to me! And I'm with you on the body skincare, I barely do anything to my skin which is mad, particularly at this time of year! Beautiful photos by the way :) x

  10. Ooh I love these goals! I cleared out my makeup a few months ago and couldn't get over the amount I was still holding onto that was long expired or not even open. It's actually strangely therapeutic!

  15. However much a large number of us love the sun, and love to prepare in it, and walk and play in it, and love the way it bronzes our skin and causes us to feel amazing and nimble and provocative and lighthearted, no doubt about it, the sun can kill you, in the event that you let it.
