Bali Body Tanning Products

{Gifted} In the past few months, I have been introduced to the brand Bali Body which is an Australian brand that focuses on tanning products. I have tried a few different products from the brand before, like their BB Creams and new Highlighters that I loved and that’s why I was so excited to get an email to try out a few more of their tanning products and a brand new product that they have just released!

First Impression

A few weeks ago I was contacted again by Bali Body to try out some of their products including three of their tanning oils, their gradual tan which I was really excited about because I've never used tan before and lastly their brand new product which is the Self Tan Remover which sounded amazing. I have worked with fake tan before because at the salon I work at we offer spray tans so I know the basics but because I already have tanned skin I never thought to really try it. I have actually seen people of colour use fake tan like Patricia Bright and have loved the look it gave so I was looking forward to the look that the Gradual Tan will give me.

Whenever I think of Bali Body the first product that comes to mind is their tanning oils that come in different scents and are packaged in their iconic bottles. The tanning oils I was very kindly gifted were the Grape, Watermellon and their Tanning / Body oil. These products were what I was most excited to try and they are a product that I have heard rave reviews about. I was also asked what tan I wanted to try out for this post because Bali Body has so many different options and because I'm new to tanning I wanted to try out their Gradual Tan before jumping into the deep end with their Self Tanning Mousse. The last product I was gifted is their brand new Self Tan Remover and the Exfoliating Mitt, which I think is essential for anyone who tans regularly or just once in a while, this product was another product that I couldn't wait to give a try because it is so different to anything that I have used before.

Tanning Oils

When I go on holiday or if I'm just sunbathing I make sure that my skin is always product, being a Beauty Therapist you learn all about how damaging the sun can be so making sure my skin is covered and protected from UVA/UVB rays is a must. Bali Body offers a wide range of tanning oils with some of then not having any SPF protection like the Tanning / Body oil that I have and the others have an SPF raging from 6 to 15. The Grape tanning oil I have is SPF 6 and the Watermellon Oil is SPF 15. If I was to be going on holiday (not any time soon) I would take the watermelon and maybe the Grape tanning oil because it protects against UVA/UVB rays and has a very good SPF rating of 15 and 6, I never usually use oils when I'm in the sun because I'm afraid of burning but because of the added production this oil has I would definitely take it away with me. On the packaging of this oil and the Grape scented oil it says that it is a broad spectrum SPF 15 or 6 that protects the skin while you tan, it is also a natural oil that will give you a deep summer glow while hydrating and nourishing the skin. I usually like to use sun production with a higher SPF number to make sure that I am fully protected in high temperatures but while im still in the UK and want to catch some rays then the Grape scented oil would be perfect.

BaliBody Tanning Oils

What I like about these oils is that they don't have a really strong smell, they are quite subtle and doesn't linger on the skin for too long, I haven't been able to fully test these oils out because I haven't left the house in ages but when I apply them to my skin they soak in quite quickly and don't leave my skin feeling extra greasy. When I apply the oil a little goes a long way and it spreads really nicely over the skin, so even though the bottles don't look like they hold much product at 100ml you still will get a lot of use out of the oils. Another good thing about these oils is that when we are eventually allowed to travel and go on holiday if you only have hand luggage you can pop these oils in with no issues. The other oil that I was gifted in the gold packaging which is the Tanning / Body oil has no SPF protection so this is a product that I would use mainly in the evenings to give the skin an extra glow and to protect the tan that I had from a day in the sun. Keeping the skin moisturised is key to keeping a long-lasting tan!

Gradual Tan

I know you're probably thinking that I've been living under a rock because I haven't used tan before and I'm probably missing out. I must say I was a little scared before trying this tan because its all new to me and I didn't really know what I was expecting to happen. Before trying this tan I thought I was going to look orange or that because I already have tanned skin it wasn't going to suit me but I was very much wrong. This tan is product the perfect tan for me because it is is really low maintenance, you apply it once a day like a normal lotion all over the body to has an all-year-round tan. I like to apply this product after I've had a bath and make sure that im fully dry before applying it, then I just use my hands to apply the lotion all over. What I have noticed from using this tan is that it really is streak-free, I only apply this product with my hands and not an applicator and I just make sure that I cover everywhere and when it is dry the tan looks really natural. To test out this product properly I have been tanning just my right arm for 3 days to see the difference between my left and right arm.

BaliBody Gradual Tan Swatch

The Gradual Tan packaging is really sleek with it being just plain white with a light peach lid, I really like the packaging of all Bali Body products because they are classic and pretty without too much going on. With this product, you also get a really generous amount of product at 200ml and while I have been testing it out I have noticed that you don't need too much of the lotion and it spreads really nicely over the skin. On the back of the tube it gives you a few instructions on how to apply the tan, firstly it says to apply the tan daily to clean and dry skin, then to apply the Gradual Tan in sweeping motions starting at the ankles and working your way up and then to lightly glide the excess tan over the hands and feet, step 3 is to wait until the skin is touch dry before getting dressed and lastly to make sure you wash your plans after the application. The first time I applied this tan I forgot to wash my palms and then next day you could see quite a few patches of tan so the washing of the palms step is definitely not one to be missed. I also must point out the scent of this Tan, it is a really fresh scent which doesn't have the normal tan smell which isn't the greatest and once the tan has dried you can't smell it anymore. After 3 days of using the tan, I really noticed a difference and it gave my skin such a lovely glow and even though you could tell quite a difference between the left and right arm the tan still looked really natural. Another thing I really like about this tan is that it didn't cling to any areas of the skin like my knuckles, in between my fingers around my wrist and it didn't have any streaks. I have obviously been washing my hands a lot more recently and that also didn't make too much of a difference to the tan on my hands which is amazing.

Self Tan Remover

The Self Tan Remover is Bali Body's new product that they just realised and I got the chance to give it a try. I know from my friends and clients that I have in the salon that they are always finding new ways to quickly and easily remove their tan so this product was the perfect new item for Bali Body to add. This self-tan remover is a luxe foaming remover with 20ml of product which is formulated with rose extract to gently and effectively remove any unwanted tan or product build-up, It is also supposed to leave the skin feeling silky smooth, flawless and ready to the next self-tan application. This product is also suitable for sensitive skin and does cause any irritation while using it. The best way to use this remover is to apply it to the skin with the tan that you want to remove and then wait 5 minutes for it to do its magic and then wash it off in the shower with warm water and to use the Exfoliating Mitt to wipe away the remaining tan, for more stubborn areas you can also use the mitt in circular motions to remove the remaining tan.

I really liked the effect than the Gradual Tan was giving my skin so I didn't want to remove that but I did have a stained hand from applying the tan and not washing my palms after so I thought that removing the tan from my hand would be perfect. The first thing I did was apply the foam onto my hand and massage it in until it was soaked into my skin and I then let it sit for around 5 minutes. After just over 5 minutes I damped the exfoliating mitt with warm water and then rubbed it over my hand a few times. I noticed straight away that the tan came off really easily with not too much rubbing with the mitt. I was really impressed with how well this remover worked, it seemed to remove all of the tan really quickly and gently. This remover is the perfect product to be added to any tan lovers collection!

  1. Oooh I'm so happy to see that the tan had already started to show after 3 days! I've got a couple of gradual tans at home but I'm incredibly impatient and ditch them after a few days if they don't show (plus I'm pale af so I really wanted a medium tan!). I've never heard of Bali Body before but I adore their packaging! Thanks so much for sharing your review. I love how you showed a before and after, too, to give us more of an idea of what they would look like on your skin.

  3. This looks like a great product! I have never used a self-tanning product before BUT I don't tan naturally. I am super fair skinned and I go from Casper the Friendly Ghost to a lobster in 10 seconds flat. I have always wished for a nice tan and this looks like the perfect way to make that happen.

  4. I like graduals because they're easy to use and not too scary in colour as well. I never really use fake tan because I like my natural skin colour but I think graduals are good for evening out my skin tone. Using the eraser on your hands after application is a genius idea x
