I Heart Revolution First Impression

A few days ago I got the urge to do a little online shopping and then ended up on the Revolution website. I hadn't brought myself any new makeup for ages and I wanted to try out a few bits that I haven't tried before. I Heart Revolution is apart of the Revolution umbrella and its a brand I haven't tried much from before and they were having a cheeky 3 for 2 so I thought i’d take advantage and get 6 things with 2 of them being free! In today's post, I'll be sharing with you all my first impressions on everything I got from I Heart Revolution!

Strawberry Pore Blurring Primer

Strawberry Whip Pore Blurring Primer

For years now I have been using the same select few primers which are the Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot, Benefit Porefessional and the Bare Minerals Prime Time but I have run out of most of these products and I wanted to try something new. I hadn't heard much about this primer but the pore blurring claim had me hooked, anything that claims to be pore blurring is right up my street. When I first tried this it seemed very familiar in its colour and consistency and then I realised this it is really similar to the Benefit Porefessional but slightly thinner in texture. This primer also has a slight strawberry scent to it which I actually quite like but once it's applied you can't smell it anymore which I also like. To apply this primer I added a few dots of it over my chin, nose and forehead and smoothed it out with my fingers, I could instantly notice that the shine disappeared when it was applied and it really reduced my pores making my skin look really smooth. When I was putting on my foundation I noticed that it applied really easily and my skin looked lovely and flawless. At first use, I am so impressed with this primer, it works so well and I loved the look that it gave my skin and for only £6 Im super happy with it!

Heartbreakers Concealer

Heartbreakers Concealer

The next product I got was the Heartbreakers Concealer, I had seen that this product was new just before lockdown started and I really wanted to try it because the packaging drew me in but I just never picked it up until now. Buying complexion products online is really hard so I wasn't sure what shade to go for and after looking up swatches I decided to go for Honey and hoped for the best. When it arrived I was actually impressed with my selection, the shade looked like a pretty good match, maybe slightly darker than I would usually go for but I think I chose a good shade. After I had applied my foundation I wanted to try out this concealer and see how it works on my skin, Then I saw the applicator and it was so cute because it was shaped like a heart which I loved at first. As I started to use the concealer I noticed that not a lot of product was coming out onto the applicator, it sort of felt like when you nearly finish a product and you try to use it all up. I'm not sure if it was just my concealer that did this but I had to keep dipping the concealer back in to get enough onto the applicator. When I was eventually able to try out the concealer it actually worked really well on the skin and covered my imperfections well, it was just the heart-shaped applicator that let it down.

Heartbreakers Matte Blush

Heartbreakers Matte Blush - Charming

Whenever I think of I Heart Revolution I always think of their iconic heart-shaped blushes, bronzers and highlighters and surprisingly this is the first time that I've tried any of them. A lot of the blushers in this range have a shimmery finish which isn't my favourite as I always go for a matte finish so I don't look too much like a disco ball. This blush is really great because you technically get a 3 in 1, you have the coral side, the pink side and then you can mix the two shades together to create a different third shade. Obviously, the packaging is super cute and I have to say that it was one of the reasons why I brought it. Blushes are a product that usually universally works for everyone and that definitely includes this blush. To try it out for the first time I wanted to mix the two shades together which gave a really gorgeous corally pink shade which I think would suit a lot of skin tones. For this blush, it is pretty pigmented so I used a light hand to apply this blush and it gives the skin a gorgeous flush of colour to the apples of the cheeks. I think this product would be perfect to take away with you if you are travelling because in one small package you get a few different shade options for only £6.

Chocolate Contour Palette

Chocolate Contour Palette

I am a real novice when it comes to contour, I wear bronzer on a daily basis but I never really go down the contour road because I’m not very skilled at it. When I saw this new little kit that I Heart Revolution released I really wanted to give it a try. Again I had to pick a shade online which I wasn't too sure about because there were only 4 shades but in the end, I decided to go for Medium. In this palette, you get a contour shade and a highlight shade all for only £6. When the product arrived I was slightly worried that I got the wrong shade, on the website the medium shade didn't look as deep but when it arrived it looked quite a bit darker. The highlight shade was perfect and was a shimmery gold shade that swatched amazingly. To apply the contour shade I went for an angled face brush and dipped my brush in a few times and I could instantly tell that this product had a lot of pigmentation, I tapped some product off and used a light hand to contour my cheeks, jawline and around my forehead. I was pleasantly surprised buy how well this product worked at giving me that snatched look, the shade was slightly too dark but when blended into the skin it worked pretty well. The highlighter was my favourite because it gave the skin a gorgeous glow and also a slight shimmer which wasn't overpowering but still blinding.

Heartbreakers Eyeshadow Palette - Courage

Heartbreakers Eyeshadow Palette - Courage

On trips to Superdrug, I had seen this palette along with the other shades so many times and I was always tempted to try it but I just never picked it up, until now. The Heartbreakers palette comes in a few different shades ranges like blue, green or pink but I decided to go for Courage because of its more red-toned shades with a mix of a yellow and two brown shimmery shades and it caught my eye. This is a 9 shade palette with a mix of shimmery shades and mattes for only £5 each which I think is a complete steal. When I got this palette I was very happy with the one I picked as the shades are definitely up my street, Even though there were only 9 shades I could see a mix of eyeshadow looks that I could create with this palette. The first thing I did was swatch the shades and this made me even more excited to just dive straight in and try out the shades because they swatched so beautifully.

The first shade I wanted to use was the mustard yellow as I never wear shades like this and I added it into the crease, this shade blended out really well and still looked really pigmented and I only needed to dip my brush in the palette once or twice. The next shade I wanted to try was the deep matte pink which I applied slightly lower on the lid than the yellow shade and then blended the two together, this again worked really well and the pink applied so pigmented and once the colours blended together it created a gorgeous orangy shade. The last shade I wanted to test out was the shimmery orange shade which was actually a pressed pigment, I used my finger to apply this shade and was so surprised by how shimmery and glittery this shade looked on the lid. Overall I was so impressed with this little palette and it really made me want to to try out more of the other palettes from this collection. I definitely think this was my favourite product from my haul!

Chocolate Dipped Mascara

Chocolate-Dipped Mascara 100% Dark Chocolate

For so long I have needed a new mascara and I had tried some out but had been really disappointed by them but this one just caught my eye because of how cute the packaging is and by the really affordable price. Looking at the image online it actually looked like the brush applicator was a bristle brush but when it arrived it was a plastic applicator which I prefer a lot more because I find that it can get into all of the lashes. When trying this out for the first time I was really happy with how my lashes looked after applying it. This mascara coated all of my lashes in the product and it separated my lashes really well without them looking spidery and that made them look a lot thicker which is what I love from mascara. After wearing this product for a few hours I noticed that nothing budged on my lashes and they looked like I had just applied it. I also noticed that none flaked away and stayed intact all day. This is now my new favourite mascara.

  9. I love revolution but have to admit this is one of their brands I’ve never bought from. Their packaging is fun but seems like it’s aimed more at teens. That being said some of the products you got look really good and I’ll be picking some up and giving it a go next time I head to superdrug
