I'm usually not really a red lipstick person, I'll usually go for a nude or if I'm pushing the boat ill go for a nudey pink with an exception for Christmas. Whenever I think of red lipstick it always gives me such festive vibes and I usually only wear it on Christmas Day. Over the years I have found a few of my favourite red lipsticks that I'll share with you today that I think would be perfect for Christmas Day!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate - 01

When I think of a true vibrant red then this is the lipstick that comes to mind. Red lipsticks have different undertones and this red has more of a blue undertone which I think makes it a great shade that would suit a wide range of skin tones. This lipstick has full pigmentation, with just one swipe of the lipstick you can get full coverage, this lipstick also has a cream finish which means it isn't too glossy or too matte its the perfect in-between lipstick. This shade would look perfect with a goldy glittery makeup look which would be perfect on Christmas day! The one thing that I hate about wearing a vibrant lipstick colour is that when eating it goes everywhere but with this lipstick for it being a cream finish it does actually last really well on the lips and I only need to reapply maybe once or twice throughout the day!

Dior Rouge Matte Lipstick - 999

This lipstick is a lot more pricer than I would usually spend but I must say that it is worth it! The one I have is actually a sample size that I got with a purchase of perfume, I tried it and fell in love with it. Matte lipstick is usually my go-to because they last on the lips and you don't need to worry about reapplying all the time and that is exactly why I love this lipstick. This shade of red is another bright red that I would say is like a post box kind of red. The difference between this red and the one before is that this has more of an orange undertone. Even though this is a matte lipstick it doesn't drag or pull at the lips when it is applied, it goes on just as smoothly as a cream lipstick would. I have worn this lipstick before and ate a whole dinner and this product didn't budge, if you're looking for a lipstick with longevity then this is the lipstick for you!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate - 107

Out of all of the lipsticks on this list, I think this one may be my favourite and its because of the deeper tone that it has. I have always found that if I'm going to wear red in my clothes or on my nails I always tend to go for deeper shades as I find they suit me better. This lipstick is my perfect shade of red, its pretty similar to the other Rimmel red lipstick on this list but it's maybe a shade darker and it has a matte finish. This matte finish is slightly different from the Dior one, this one doesn't appear to be a fully matte I would say it is more of a demi-matte because it has a slight sheen to it. This lipstick is long-lasting but throughout the day it can wear away slightly around the inside of the lips, but this product builds nicely so layering it on isn't an issue and it still feels very comfortable on the lips.

Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Colour - Ruby

This lipstick is pretty different from the others that I have on this list and its because of the finish that it has. The finish of this lipstick is actually more of a balm than a lipstick and I know that not everyone likes to wear a full-coverage lipstick so I thought this would be the perfect product to add onto this list. If you are someone who prefers balms but still wants to add a hint of colour to the lips then this could be a great product for you to use. What I like most about this product is how comfortable it is to wear, it does just feel like you have a lip balm on instead of a lipstick but there is still a lovely colour that it gives off. This lipstick is pretty sheer but I think that it makes it a perfect product for all skin tones to wear and it would complement them all. This lipstick obviously isn't long-wearing so what I like to do is after dinner when we have all settled down that's when I'll wipe off my full coverage lipstick and put this on for the rest of the evening.

MAC Amplified Lipstick - Bric O Lar

Now technically this isn't a red lipstick but it is a berry shade so I thought id add it onto this list for anyone who isn't a fan of the bright red lip. The colour of this lipstick is very close to a red but it has more of a neutral tone to it and I think even though it isn't the typical red it would look lovely on Christmas day. This lipstick is one of my favourites in terms of how comfortable it is to wear, it sits on the lips nicely and it also gives the lips a lovely shine to it without the need for a gloss. This lipstick also has full coverage and only needs one swipe and to press the lips together and you'll have a full coverage look. On the MAC website, this lipstick shade is described as a mid-toned berry shade which I think is totally correct, it also shows this shade on different skin tones and it looks perfect on all of them. This lipstick would look perfect with a golden smokey eye look and would go from a day to night look perfectly!

Getting dressed up and putting my glitzy makeup on is some of my favourite parts about Christmas Day and adding a red lip makes me feel just a little bit more festive. What's your favourite red lipstick?

  1. I do like balms over lipsticks so the bobby brown holds promise for me. So does that lovely mac berry shade. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. I was JUST thinking today that I would love to try a red lipstick. When my teeth were crooked I didn't want to draw attention to them but now that they are straight I figured I can finally try something more bold. I love it when I see it on other girls but I still feel so awkward to wear lipstick. Maybe I can start with something more subtle first. Thanks for your suggestions!
