So we are back with a new year again, 2019 and that means a whole clean out of all my new products and adding a few new gems into the mix. This January I have purchased a few new skincare products that will help improve my skin for the new year.
If you have been reading my blog for a whole you will probably know that I recently got Individual Eye Lash Extensions and I have been looking for the perfect remover to use on my brows and lashes ever since. On a googling session, I looked for the best non oil eye makeup removers and this one was up there with the likes of Clinique and Estee Lauder so I had to pick it up.

The Claims
For this eye makeup, the claims are that it Effectively removes even waterproof eye makeup, Its also 100% Oil-free (I need for my lashes) and that they contain no perfumes or colours being perfect for anyone with sensitive eyes like me.

First Impression

I decided to start using this eye makeup remover just before the new year on New Year's Eve. I was wearing quite a bit of makeup and thought it would be the best time to give it a go. At first, I was slightly worried because I had a lot of eyeshadow, liner, mascara on my lower lashes and brows.

I started by soaking my cotton pads in the remover and just holding them over my brows to let the product soak in a bit and dissolve the makeup. After the first swipe, I noticed that most the makeup was gone and I only needed to wipe away bits or stubborn brow pencil. When I was holding the product over my eyes I realised how fresh it was making my skin feel.

Then I began with my eyes which is the part I was most nervous about because I could just put a whole cotton pad over my eyes I had to work in stages.  I applied quite a bit of the product to a cotton pad and carefully started removing eyeshadow, I was really surprised by how well it was working and for the amount of remover I put on my eyes didn't sting at all. Then to get all the little bits of makeup from nearer to my lash line I applied more of the remover with cotton bad to really remove all traces of makeup which it did.

Are the claims true?

I would say that even though Simple didn't make loads of claims for this eye makeup remover that the ones it did make were true. This product removed my makeup so easily without causing any irritation to my eyes and it also didn't remove any of my lashes which is a major bonus.

Environ Super Moisturiser+

Environ is a brand that we sell at the salon and is actually a range that can only be purchased from a salon because most of the products from the line contain Vitamin A as the main Ingredient. Before I started using this product I was trying out a different moisturiser which didn't suit my skin very well and wanted to switch it up and with a little research, I got this one.

The Claims

During my further research of this product, I came across the website that had quite a few claims about how amazing this moisturiser is. They claim this moisturiser is easily absorbed leaving the skin feeling comfortable and hydrated, It also restores the effects of the skins natural moisture balance and helps prevent tight dry skin.

First Impression

I initially wasn't too sure about this moisturiser and only for the fact that my skin is usually oily but recently my skin has done a massive u-turn and has become drier in areas. The claims on this moisturiser were so good I had to give it a try. The first time I tried it out was after a long day of wearing quite heavy makeup and I knew my skin needed a real break. After my whole cleanse and tone routine I tried it out. I noticed from just squeezing the pump down twice that a little goes a long way which I was very happy about because it is pretty expensive, and it felt really light which I like in a moisturiser. Two pumps of the moisturiser were more than enough for my face and I was able to take some moisturiser down my neck as well. I could instantly feel that my skin felt a lot more hydrated and really soft. A couple of hours after using the moisturiser the product had completely soaked in and my skin still felt really smooth.

Are the claims true?

I would definitely say that the claims made for this moisturiser are definitely true. After a few days of using it before the New Year, I noticed a big change in my skin, my skin felt a lot more hydrated and smooth. When I wake up in the morning from applying it the night before my skin feels amazing.

Clinique 2 in 1 Micellar Gel

Recently you might have seen from my last post that my skin has become pretty sensitive and only a select few cleansers don't irritate my skin. This gel I actually received in a box for my Birthday and used it a few times but never really got into it until I started using it again at the start of the new year. This cleanser was very new to me because when I think of a product which is Micellar I usually think of water instead of a gel.

The Claims

The claims that Clinique made for this cleanser are that it is a dual-phase cleanser which removes all traces of makeup in one step. This product is said to also be suitable for all skin types, even very sensitive skins and it will leave the skin feeling smooth and revitalised with no leftover residue and no rinsing required.

First Impression

Well at first I had been using this cleanser all wrong and actually sitting down and writing this post I only just realised it. For the first few days, I was using it like you would with a foaming gel, by applying it to my face with my hands and adding a bit of water but doing this I was wondering why it wasn't foaming up (I don't always read the instructions). Even using the product wrong I actually liked that it removed a lot of my makeup and did leave my skin feeling fresh. Once I started actually using the product properly I actually love it now, it really does leave your skin feeling smooth and soft and it doesn't dry out the skin at all, it actually does the opposite.

Are the claims true?

I would say the claims are 100% true, for this product. Even when my skin was crazy sensitive this product didn't irritate my skin. I will definitely keep using this product as it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.

Hopefully, this upcoming year is going to be a good skin year with all the new products that I've added to my skincare routine! What new skincare products have you added to your routines?

  1. I'm usually impressed with Clinique skincare so I'm not surprised you ended up liking that one. I need to try the Simple eye makeup remover. I'm hoping to be able to start wearing makeup again soon because a few lashes have come back but I'll be needing a super gentle remover x
