product combinations you need in your life

While looking through all of my products while deciding what posts to write I had a wave of inspiration to write about products that when combined together work even better than when they are on their own! All of these combinations can be used with any products of your choosing for them to be tailored to you.

liquid lipstick and lip gloss flatlay

Liquid Lipstick and Clear Lipgloss

I have used this combination of products a lot to make my own specific colour. You can use this technique in different ways, you can apply the liquid lipstick first and apply a lipgloss on top to give the product some extra shine. The other way you can use this technique is by applying the liquid lipstick and then use any gloss it could be clear or glittery as a highlight at the centre of the lips. The products I like to use for this tip is any liquid lipstick really but my favourite is the Jeffree Star Liquid lipstick in Androgyny and then I like to apply the Autograph clear gloss over the top to give my lips some extra shine. I like to use this technique most when I go on holiday as it means you don't need to take too many different lip options and you save a lot of space because if you're like me you will need to take around different lip products with you for a weeks holiday!

liquid and powder highlighter flatlay

Liquid and Powder Highlighter

This combination might be pretty obvious but I'm sure a lot of you haven't tried it before and once you do you won't go back. If you are someone who likes to have a very strong highlight then this technique will be perfect for you. Using a liquid and powder highlighter together will add further intensity to the highlight and give you an extra glow. To do this technique I usually apply a liquid highlighter just after I apply my foundation (make sure it's before you apply any powder), the liquid highlighter that I've been using is actually the CLE Essence Moonlight Cushion Highlighter, I'll usually just apply this with my finger or a damp beauty sponge to blend it out. Once the liquid highlighter is applied then I move onto the powder highlighter for this, I have been using the ELF Baked Highlighter which I have mentioned back in my August Favourites, I like to just lightly brush the product on with a highlighter brush and you can instantly see how much more intense the glow is. I have also found that this technique helps to keep the product on for longer.

pore filling and brightening primer flatlay

Pore filling and Brightening Primer

Most people have combination skin and using one product all over the skin isn't always best and doesn't work for everyone especially me. When I'm priming my skin I like to use two different primers on different areas of my face that need it. On my areas that need a little extra help with like my nose, forehead and chin where I get the oiliest I like to apply a pore filling primer to help smooth my skin and keep the oil at bay, the product I like to use for this is the Benefit Porefessional Pearl Primer.  On the more drier areas of my face and where I want more brightening like on my cheeks I like to use a brightening primer, for this, I have been using the Bare Minerals Brightening Primer. I only apply a small amount and you can really tell a difference once you have the rest of your makeup is on and set so you get the best of both worlds with your primer routine.

Multimasking Flatlay

Multi Masking

I think by now a lot of people have heard of Multi Masking, the concept of using different masks on your face that has different benefits. I have been combining my face masks for years and this trend has actually really worked for my skin. Like the above technique of applying different primers to different areas of the face, this technique is very similar. I like to use the same concept as above where I apply a more Detoxifying clay mask I've been using the Generation Clay Detoxifying Mask to my oilier area and a more hydrating mask for this I've been using the Dr Botanicals Pomergranate Superfood Mask to my drier areas. Doing this technique will help to improve your skin by customizing your skincare to address your specific skincare needs all in one go. What I find great about this product combination is that you can apply as many masks as you like and you can also apply than in different areas to the face depending on your concerns.

  3. I love posts like this, I'm always interested to see what other people mix and match. I rarely layer my cream and powder highlights but I do put white concealer under my powder highlight if I really want it to pop. I love muliti-masking too. I need to try the two primers thing out and see how that goes, great tips! x

  4. I like mixing different liquid lipsticks or applying a lighter color over a darker one for a new look. Something new I learned from you is mixing masks👌🏾 Too often have I purchased masks and they work better in one area, never thought to combine masks or use two different masks for specific spots on my face, brilliant!

  5. This is great - I’m not great at experimenting too far out of my comfort zone with my makeup but I’ve been looking for a primer and am going to check that one from Bare Minerals out. My face tends to be on the drier side so hopefully it works out. Great pics too!

    1. The bare minerals primer is really great, as it also comes for all different skin types but my Favourite has to be the brightening primer as it actually works!

  6. I've tried the Bare Minerals primer before! Agreed you only need to use a tiny bit, but it's really handy. I also love the urban decay brightening and tightening primer, it's so good.
