{Gifted} A few weeks ago I was kindly gifted a few hair styling products from SGX NYC. SGX NYC was a brand developed by an award-winning NYC hairstylist, This brand also delivers cutting-edge formulas that transform your hair. I was sent three different products the Dry Touch Volumising Dry Shampoo, Under Control Finishing Spray and The Do-It-All 3 in 1 Dry Texture Spray that I've been testing out for a few weeks to give you an in-depth review of how I feel about these products.

My hair care routine is usually pretty boring, I stick to what I know works and don't really trail off from it. I have been wanting to spice up my hair care routine recently so this package came at just the right time.

Packaging & Product Amount of the range
The packaging of this whole range is what attracted me to these products right away. They look totally different than any other hair care range that you see on the shelves. The packaging of the different products has all different photos on them with the most beautiful pastel colours which look so good on display on my dressing table.

For the product amount of each of the products you get a very similar amount in them with a slight difference with the Dry Touch Dry shampoo and The Do-It-All 3 in 1 Dry Texture Spray both have 231ml (very specific) and the Under Control Finishing Spray has slightly more at 281ml. Comparing this to other hairsprays and dry shampoos that I have these products do have slightly less but only by at least 50ml. Each of these products come out to be £7.99 each which I think is pretty reasonable for a professional hair styling brand but is slightly more than ones that you can find from high street brands. The SGX NCY range is now also available in Boots!

Dry Touch Volumising Dry Shampoo

Out of all the other two products, I think I was most excited to try this one out. I have tried so many different dry shampoos that I've liked but never really loved so I'm always on the lookout. I have dark black hair and I have made it my mission to find a dry shampoo that doesn't make my hair go white! This dry shampoo is described as an instant refresher to wake up flat hair and second-day hair (for me its week later hair) by absorbing oil.

Main Benefits:
  • Made with SQX NYC's signature scent which is a floral green enveloping scent
  • Absorbs oil and cleanses the hair
  • Boosts volume from the root and adds texture to flat hair
  • Brushes invisible
  • Vegan and not tested on animals
  • Free of parabens, sulphates and glutens

Key Ingredients:
  • White Ginger Extract - Shown to stop the hair from over-drying and keeps it looking smooth
  • Bamboo - Known for its cleansing properties to give a clean and refreshed look

First Impression
I had to wait a few days to firstly use this product because I had just washed my hair. To make it a true test I wanted to wait until my hair was slightly greasy so I could really see if it worked. For this post, I decided to leave the left side without any product and then use the spray on the right side of my hair. The first thing I noticed when I used this spray was the smell, it really did have a lovely fresh scent that is made up of fresh freesia, jasmine and sandalwood. I sprayed quite a lot into my hair in my bedroom, I left for a while and when I came back I could still smell the dry shampoo.

The next thing I noticed with this product is that it didn't leave a white cast all over my hair! I have finally found a product that doesn't make me look like in going grey every time I use it. I sprayed it quite far away from my hair at first as I was being cautious to see if it was going to make my hair white but when I realised that it didn't I sprayed slightly closer and it still didn't make my hair white.

Once I sprayed it into the right side of my hair and massaged it in slightly I could instantly see a difference. My hair didn't look as flat and it really did absorb some of the oil and it wasn't looking as oily and shiny that it was before. I also noticed that you could slightly still smell it in my hair but I quite liked that part.

Under Control Finishing Spray

I think finishing spray is just a fancy way of saying hair spray. I have a love-hate relationship with hairspray, I've tried so many different ones that either don't work or they work so much that my hair feels like cement and I've never been able to find a happy medium. This finishing spray is described as long-lasting and has brushable hold that keeps the hair looking sleek and polished.

Main Benefits:
  • Long-lasting, brushable hold
  • Vegan and cruelty-free
  • Friss-free and humidity resistant
  • Free of parabens, sulphates, mineral oils and glutens

Key Ingredients:
  • Bamboo Extract helps to cleanse and refresh the hair
  • Provitamin B5 helps to deeply moisturise the hair and prevent moisture loss

First Impression
I've actually used this product a few times and I've also caught my boyfriend also stealing it to use for work. I don't tend to use hairspray on an everyday basis but when I have more of a style to my hair and I have some fly-aways (which is most of the time) I like to use it to tame them and keep my hair looking sleeker. I decided to try it on a day when my hair really wasn't being my best friend, it just wasn't working with me and just didn't do what I wanted it to so I thought a classic ponytail would work. Whenever I do a ponytail I like to have it looking extra shiny and slicked back and for this I need hairspray.

When I used this spray I first noticed that it didn't have that really strong hairspray smell which can actually choke you if you spray too much, this spray has a scent that is Lotus blossom, aromatic leaves and sandalwood. The smell from this spray isn't too overpowering and it did go after a while. Another thing I noticed was it added a slight amount of shine which I liked. Over the course of the day, I kept checking my hair in the mirror and it kept my hair in place all day! The next part was brushing it out, I did notice that it didn't completely brush out effortlessly and I did find my hair was slightly hard afterwards but it wasn't as bad as some of the other hairsprays that I have used before and I had to wash my hair 5 times before it comes out.

The Do-It-All 3-in-1 Dry Texture Spray

This product is actually a dry shampoo meets a hairspray which is a product that I haven't used actually used before. The first thing that came to mind when I saw this spray is that it would be perfect for a night out hairdo of curly or waved hair to keep it looking smooth because of the dry shampoo and set into place because of the hairspray.

Main Benefits:
  • Adds texture and body to flat hair
  • Provides light flexible hair
  • Leaves hair with a soft feel
  • Vegan and cruelty-free
  • Free of parabens, sulphates and mineral oil

Main Ingredients:
  • Hydrolyzed Wheat thickens and adds volume to the hair
  • Sea Kelp Extract prevents breakages and strengthens the hair

First Impression
I decided to try this product for the first time on a night out, I thought it would be the perfect time to really see if it keeps my hair in place but still looks soft. I gave myself some curls and sprayed this product all through the roots of my hair and then to the ends so it was all coated in the spray. Again I noticed that the smell of this product was amazing and it did stay in my hair for a bit which I really liked, the smell was a mix of lemon, fresh peony and cedarwood.

This product again like the dry shampoo this spray didn't leave that horrible white cast on my hair and it was fully invisible which is perfect. When I sprayed it through my hair one of the things that I noticed was that it didn't leave my hair feeling sticking and when it was it you wouldn't have noticed it. Throughout the night I did notice that my curls dropped a bit but because I have so much hair that it's hard to keep it in place all day. By the end of the night my hair was still curly it had fallen out a bit but not completely and my hair was still really soft and flexible.

  7. I've never heard of any of these before, but they sound like great products. I'm actually on the look out for a new dry shampoo to try, so this has come at the right time. The ones I've tried leave my hair feel either greasy or straw like. :-(
