Eyeshadow Platte Flatlay

The time has finally arrived when all the work Christmas parties are in full force. I love a good Christmas party because its the perfect excuse to get dressed up and have a drink (of a couple more!). In today's post, I will be sharing with you my go-to look for any Christmas Party!

Base

Starting off with the base products, it is a must to use a Primer. The primer that I've decided to go for for this look is the Bare Minerals Prime Time Original Primer, I love to use this primer because even though it says it is the original version I find that this primer is slightly silicony and pore-filling which I love. This product is the perfect primer at keeping the oily skin at bay and making sure that your makeup stays on for the evening. I don't tend to wear this primer all over my face but I like to add a small amount (a little goes a long way) to my main areas of concern like my nose, forehead and chin. After I've applied this primer I can instantly see that the pores appear smaller and the texture of my skin looks a lot smoother making it the perfect canvas to apply my foundation on to.

For the next step, I like to apply my foundation. The foundation I picked for my Christmas Party look is Estee Lauder Double Wear. Whenever I know that I need to have my foundation lasting hours and still looking good then I always go for Double Wear. This foundation has been one of my holy grails for years and even though it is pretty pricey for a foundation it is definitely worth it. It is very long-lasting with a matte finish and it gives the skin full coverage. I have worn this foundation in a lot of different weather conditions like on holiday in the heat and I've even been caught in a lot of rain and this foundation still looks great. Most Christmas parties now are either in bars or restaurants and they always get hot and this is the best heat resistant foundation that I have to keep my skin looking fabulous all night.

The next step in my base routine is concealer. I like to apply a brightening concealer to my under eyes to make me look a lot more awake and to hide my dark circles. For this, I use the Revolution Fast Base concealer, this is one of my favourite undereye concealers and you can tell from how many times I've mentioned it in posts before like my Full Face Under £20!, Easy Autumn Makeup Look and How Much Does My Everyday Face Cost? This concealer is perfect for brightening the under eyes and keeping them crease-free. The other concealer I used is the Bourjois Radiance Reveal concealer, I like to use this product to cover all of my imperfections and it does a great job at hiding any redness and spots.

For my bronzer, blush and highlight I had quite a few different products to choose from but then I went with Hoola Bronzer, TheBalm Instain and Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Glow. The bronzer I went with is a classic and I always go for this on nights out because I know it's going to be a good makeup day (night), it blends beautifully and leaves my skin looking sun-kissed. The blush was hard to decide which one to go for but then I chose TheBalm Instain, it a lovely blush which does stain the skin a bit to keep the blush locked in place and it doesn't wear away. The colour is also really gorgeous. For the highlighter, I decided to go for a liquid product which I actually applied before any powder products. This liquid highlighter is such a pretty product which gives a gorgeous effect on the skin by giving it a very natural glow but you can build it up to give a really vibrant glow. I like to apply this product with my finger and blend it out to give it a lot of pigmentation.

Eyes

For the eyes, I wanted to do a pretty golden look because I feel like this would be perfect for anyone's Christmas Party. The palette I decided to go for was the MUA Undress me too palette, this palette has a lot of golden shimmer shades that I think would be perfect for any Christmassy event. When looking for this palette online I discovered they have discontinued it but it is very similar to the Naked 2 palette. The look I went for is pretty simple and can be copied really easily.

  1. To start the look off I use the 5th shade along which is a light cool-toned matte brown and I add this onto my crease using a fluffy brush and I blend it out until I'm happy with the look.
  2. After I did this I wasn't entirely happy with the colour so I then decided to add a bit of my bronzer shade into my crease to warm it up a bit which worked.
  3. Once the crease was finally how I wanted it I then added the first shimmer shade which was was the 4th shade along which is a really gorgeous golden shade which actually looks a lot more glittery on the eyes than it does on the pan. For this, I applied it with my finger for extra pigmentation.
  4. To darken up the outer corner I then applied the 5th shade along on the second line and this colour is a deeper matte brown. I applied this to the outer corner and then lightly buffed it into the crease to deepen the look.
  5. For the last step of this look, I applied the first matte brown shade and mixed it in with my bronzer shade and then blended it out on my lower lash line to bring the whole look together and then added the first shade from the palette into my inner corner for a shimmery look.
To complete my eyeshadow look I decided to add a winged liner because why wouldn't I? I did this using the Revolution Renaissance liner which is the perfect product to give you a really sharp liner look that doesn't smudge or wear away during the day. I then finished off the whole look by using my Soap & Glory Thick n Fast Mascara to add definition to my lashes. This eye look could also be worn with a really lovely pair of fluttery false lashes! For my brows, I did my regular brow look and used the MUA Brow Define Eyebrow Pencil to fill them n and then set it with my NYX Brow Mascara which keeps my unruly brows in place.

Lips

The reason I decided to go for a pretty simple and not too in your face eye shadow look is that I wanted to go very bold for the lips. Red is a colour that I only really wear at Christmas and this red lipstick was the perfect colour to choose that would work for any Christmas party. The lipstick I went for is the Rimmel London Kate Matte Lipstick 107 which I think is a blue tined deeper red which looks gorgeous on all skin tones.

  1. I ALWAYS hear such good things about Estee Lauder Double Wear but I've never tried it. I have a very oily T-zone too but if this is as good as all that then I think I will finally get around to treating myself this Christmas. Your golden eye look is so pretty, perfect for any Christmas party. Lovely look, thank you for the step by step! Lisa x

  3. I love that this is all neutrals but still soft glam and not too intimidating in terms of shades. I could imagine everyone looking good with this look, it's so pretty and wearable. It's a shame the palette has been discontinued x

  6. The color you chose for your lips is beautiful! However, when you closed your eyes . . . that is when the true artistry shone through.

  7. The gold accents on the eyes is so pretty. I can really appreciate how the eyeshadow and bold lip doesn't clash because you must have a Christmas red lip for all the holiday parties. I need to get my hands on the Soap & Glory Mascara. I hear their makeup products are too notch👌🏾
