Eye Shadow Palette Declutter Flatlay

Now that it is officially January 2020 and a new decade I have decided to finally declutter my makeup collection and I'm starting with my eyeshadow palettes. Palettes are the one makeup product that I don't think you can have enough of but in my case, I have decided to let a few of them go to a new home where they can be used and loved. In today's post, I'll be showing you the palettes that I'll be decluttering.

MUA Colour Burst Palette

When I look at the palette it does instantly make me smile because of all gorgeous vibrant shades but this is probably the palette that I've used the least in my collection. When I first got this palette I had really good intentions to start wearing more colourful shades and be a bit more adventurous in my eye shadow looks but that didn't work out very well and then this palette just got lost in the back of my collection. Another reason why I've decided to declutter this palette is that out of all my other MUA palettes this one doesn't have the best pigmentation, a few of the colours from this palette like the deep blue shade has really great pigmentation but a lot of the others just aren't up to par with them being a little bit patchy and just not the best colour pay off which is what you would want from a colourful palette. For this palette, because I haven't used it much at all apart from swatching it I have decided to sell it over on my Depop because along with my beauty decluttering the other resolution of mine it to sell some of my unused items and save some money.

Revolution Salvation Palette Girls On Film

In my collection the brand I have the most of is Revolution, I love all of their products especially the palettes even though I can find some of their products to be a little hit and miss. This product was actually one that I got for free a few months ago when I purchased a few other products from Superdrug. Since getting the palette I did think the shades in the palette are really pretty but they are also very similar to shades that I already have in other palettes. For this product, there wasn't anything actually wrong with it but it was one of those palettes that I just never reached for and then, in the end, I actually forgot I had it in my collection. Some of the shades in this palette are really pretty like the matte lilac but I have tried and failed in the past to decant products and put them in an empty palette so I decided to just sell the whole palette and let someone else make the most of it.

I ❤ Makeup Palette

I have had this palette so long in my collection that I can't actually remember when I got it. For some reason, this was one of those palettes that I would always see in my collection but never use and never throw away. Again when I was looking through my collection to see what palettes to part with I was really umming and ahhing about this one because the shades inside are actually really pretty. One of the reasons that I finally decided to declutter this palette that a lot of the shades are a little bland and samey. I do love neutral palettes but this one just seems to be a bit on the cooler neutral side which isn't really my favourite, I tend to prefer more golden and brown shades. There are actually two shades in this palette that I do really like which is the gold shimmer and the deep blue glitter shade but I didn't think that was enough to keep the whole palette. This palette would be perfect for someone who really loves neutral shades but also when they are more cool-toned. I did also find that the matte shades didn't really have the best pigmentation and they were slightly chalky which is never good.

Rimmel London Mini Palettes

This is another product that I seriously can't remember how long they have been in my collection. Whenever I see these palettes they instantly give me that nostalgic feeling because I used to steal these from my mum's makeup bag until I went out and got my own. The reason I've decided to give these palettes away is that I just don't use mini palettes anymore, It's not because they don't work well or are good quality but I would always just seem to pick other palettes and different shades over these ones. If you are a person who likes having less makeup or if you travel around a lot then I think these mini palettes would actually be perfect for you but I like to go a bit overboard with my makeup and I seem to find that more is better!

Whenever I declutter my makeup it always makes me feel so much better and It sneakily makes space for new makeup. All of the palettes that I've mentioned today are all being sold over on my Depop if you want to check any of them out. Have you decluttered any of your makeup recently?

  2. I fully understand what you mean of not using a palette because it is similar to other palettes and shades you already have! Decluttering for me tends to be an excuse to buy more hahah x

  5. I'm the same way with lipsticks the way you are with eyeshadow palettes. I have a tendency to buy the same shades even though I have the shade in my collection. It's nice to step outside the box and try different colors sometimes. That Revolution Girls on Film palette has some gorgeous colors!

  6. First, I have to say that I love your flat lays - they're so vibrant and look so lovely.

I'm def similar to you in regards to never having enough palettes. They're def my most tempting beauty product to buy. I've owned very few palettes from the brands on this list, but I'm impressed that you were able to detach yourself from these products and let them go.

Also, I feel like I always love the sound of getting something free with purchase but I never end up loving those products as much as the ones that I actually intended to buy.

  7. A have a few of those little Rimmel ones and I can never bring myself to throw them out because they make me smile so much thinking about when I first started wearing makeup. I had a good clear out a couple of months ago and thew out a couple of brighter palettes I once thought would make me wear colour too (never happened) x

  9. This is great motivation for all the makeup lovers out there. When we think about decluttering, we often think about our closets, our offices, etc. but makeup never seems to make the list! lol

  10. Such a great post and a really mindful one too. I've only recently started wearing make up and seeing posts like these are really making me be mindful about what products I am buying and not letting my excitement take control. Though admittedly when I saw the Revolution Salvation palette I immediately wanted it haha.

  11. I look into my make up drawer and I get anxiety lol I have a lot to declutter. It’s so easy to get lost in Boots and Superdrug’s etc oohing and ahhing and buying stuff you do not need, you won’t use it you’re just disappointed with it. But I love MUA eyeshadows though and most of ELF’s products.

  12. Ahh I bloody hate it when eyeshadows are chalky, it makes them SO hard to blend! I've recently gone through my makeup too and gotten rid of some palettes that I just don't get use out of. It breaks your heart to part with them but like you said, it's much better to let someone else get good use out of them rather than letting them go out of date in your collection without a second look! Morphe are my main go to brand now for palettes, their price point is so good for the pigment!
