2020 has been a rollercoaster and I'm sure I'm not the only one glad that it's over! While this year hasn't been great it has actually been a good year for discovering new products that have become some of my absolute favourites. In today's post, I'll be sharing with you my top 10 favourites from 2020!

Skincare

I have been on a journey with my skin this year, it has been the year that we have all started to wear face masks and let's face it it hasn't done wonders for my skin. This year I discovered some new products that are now my holy grails but I've also rediscovered some old favourites too!

The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser

Discovering The Inkey List has probably been one of the best parts of this year. I first got this cleanser back in September when I first started to have real problems with my skin and using it for a few weeks it became apart of my new Problematic Skincare Routine. I've never really fallen in love with a cleanser before I've liked a few but never loved and that was until this cleanser. If you've been reading my blog for a while you will know I have combination skin but leaning more towards being oily, Since using this cleanse my skin has become noticeably less oily and the blackheads around my nose and chin have also become a lot less visible. This gel consistent cleanser lathers up nicely and cleanses the skin thoroughly leaving it feeling a lot smoother and looking a lot clearer. This is definitely a product that I will continue to use during 2021.

Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil

Since starting my skincare journey a few years ago I have always done a double cleanse, I think doing a double cleanse is the only way to make sure that there's no makeup left on the skin. For the first cleanse I have found it best to use either an oil or a balm to break through the makeup and remove it and this oil is a product that I started using this year. I have tried all different cleansing oils and they have been good but I've been very impressed with the Simple Cleansing Oil. This product works perfectly at removing all traces of makeup even waterproof makeup. I use this product every evening, and it works perfectly at preparing the skin for the second cleanse and once my cleansing routine is done my skin feels amazingly soft and looks clearer. Another thing I love about this product is that it is super affordable but it also lasts ages, you only need a very small amount as it spreads over the skin. If your looking out for a new pre cleanser make sure to give this cleansing oil a go.

La Roche Posay Effacleur Duo (+) Moisturiser

At the start of this year, my skin took a turn and not a good one! It had become very problematic and I wasn't sure what was best to do for it and then I thought I would give this moisturiser another try. I had used this product a few years ago and did really enjoy it but I wanted to try other things but I do remember it working for me. Since using this moisturiser over the last few months I have seen a huge improvement in my skin, especially in how oily my skin can be. I would have very oily skin on my nose and forehead and I would need to blot and powder my skin throughout the day but since using this moisturiser I barely need to powder my skin at all, which is a huge improvement for me! Another thing I really like about this product is that it can be used on people with sensitive skin without causing any further irritation but still working at improving problematic skin!

Makeup

I think 2020 has been the year that I've worn a lot less makeup than usual and that is because of the Lockdowns that we have had. On the occasions that I have worn makeup, I have found a few products that I have fallen in love with this year and will continue to use them in 2021!

I Heart Revolution Heartbreakers Palette - Courage

Even though I didn't wear a lot of makeup this year I did buy quite a few palettes (you know to make myself feel better!) and out of the palettes, I brought myself this mini palette from I Heart Revolution has definitely been my favourite. The first thing I noticed about this palette was the gorgeous shades, I love red and orange shades on my skin tone so this palette is definitely up my street. This mini palette is only £5 and I was so impressed by the quality of this product even though it's so affordable, the mattes have great pigmentation and the shimmer shades apply so smoothly to the eyes. This palette has 9 eyeshadows with different shades that I have been able to make a number of different eye looks with from day time looks to more dramatic evening looks. I have three of the other Heartbreakers palettes from I Heart Revolution and love them all but the colour story of this palette is definitely my favourite.

Bali Body BB Cream*

All the way back in February I was very kindly gifted a few makeup products from Bali Body and since then I have fallen in love with their BB Cream. I am usually a full coverage girl and I love the look of having matte skin but with this product, I actually quite like that this product gives me a natural glow and is a lighter coverage. I like to use this product whenever I want a No-Makeup Makeup Look because it gives your skin natural beauty finish. This is also a product I like to use whenever I just need an extra tint and glow to my skin and when using this product it is very quick and easy to get the look you want. This year with everything going on I haven't had a holiday but I can tell that this BB Cream would be the perfect product to take on holiday with you because its lightweight on the skin, gives off a lovely glow, has an SPF of 15 and gives off a natural finish. Whenever I wear this product it always makes my skin look really healthy and glowy.

MUA PRO/BASE Concealer

Concealer has been my best friend this year, I haven't worn a lot of foundation but to cover my blemishes I have been using concealer quite a lot. I first got this concealer last year because I loved the foundation version of it but I didn't use it as much until now. I would usually use concealer with a foundation but if I'm just going on a walk or nipping to the shops I use this concealer to cover any blemishes I may have or dark circles under my eyes and it blends into my skin tone perfectly. Another reason why I love this product is that it's so affordable, this concealer is £2.50 which is an amazing price and it works better than some of my more pricer concealers. There is a small drawback with this product that being that it does dry down quickly but it isn't too much of an issue if you work fast with it. Any application tool works with this concealer but I actually like to just use my finger and it blends into the skin quickly and easily.

Body Care / Other

This year I have really tried to focus more on self-care and a big part of that is body care. I have been at home a lot not being able to work so I try to have more self-care days using some of my favourite products for this year!

L'Occutain Almond Shower Oil

This year I have definitely been using a few more luxurious body care items including this shower oil from L'Occutain. Usually, I'm not too fussy when it comes to body wash and I'll use anything that I have on hand but then I tried this shower oil. Whenever I use this product I know that my skin is going to feel amazing afterwards. When in the shower or bath I'll use this product to cleanse my body when mixed with water this oil turns into a luscious foam that leaves the skin looking and feeling silky smooth. I have been using this product on and off for a whole year now and it still looks like a brand new bottle as a little goes a really long way with this product. This shower oil is pretty pricey for a shower product but because it lasts so long I definitely think you're getting your money worth from it. If my skin is feeling dry I will use this product when I have a bath because while cleansing the skin it also helps to hydrate the skin leaving it feeling soft and smooth.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Body with Gentle Mit Cleanser

This is definitely another luxury bath product that I have been obsessed with this year. Like the shower oil, this is a body cleansing product but I like to use this cleanser a little differently. With this cleanser you get a gentle mit, one side being a sponge and the other being an exfoliator, I mainly use this cleanser with the mit to exfoliate my skin and remove any dead skin. This product is very gentle on the skin but it does effectively remove any dry skin making it a lot easier to shave but also leaving my skin feeling super soft. I use this product and the shower oil on alternating days so that my skin is always at its best. I love to use this product during the colder months because it hydrates and also moisturises as well as buffing away dead skin. Another pricer product but definitely worth the extra spend.

Sassy Shop Wax Wax Melts*

Wax melts have been something that I have always loved using and trying out and so this year when I was asked by Sassy Shop Wax if I wanted to try some of their melts I jumped at the chance. I have tried quite a few different wax melt brands before in the past and they have been good but definitely not as good as the ones from Sassy Shop Wax! This brand comes up with the most amazing scents ranging from Bedtime Baby which smells like baby bubble bath and Strawberry Lily. Whenever I use these wax melts, you can smell then throughout the whole room and the smell lasts as well. Another thing I love about these wax melts is that they are also made so gorgeously, with all different colours and glitter which I think makes them all the better. There are so many scents to choose from over on their site and Instagram but I think my favourites are Antique Bookstore and Bedtime Baby!
