Over the last couple of weeks, my skin has been a nightmare, I have been getting breakouts constantly and every time one spot went away another one appeared and then I saw this new product the Succinic Acid Blemish Treatment from The Inkey List and I knew I had to try it. I have been using this product for a few weeks now and thought it would be the perfect time for a new review post!

The Inkey List is a new brand to me, I first started using them last year when I was trying out a New Problematic Skincare Routine and I added the Salicylic Acid Cleanser to my routine and have been using it ever since. What I like about the brand is that they have amazing quality products with great ingredients and all for an affordable price, what could be better.

This blemish treatment is a new product from The Inkey List and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it because my skin was acting out like crazy. Now that we have to wear face masks everywhere we go my cheeks, chin and nose have been breaking out like crazy and I needed a spot treatment to help with just that and that's when I ordered this product.

Packaging

The packaging of this product is identical to the other products from The Inkey List, their classic black and white packaging which is basic but I actually really enjoy it because as soon as I see their products I instantly know its from The Inkey List. This blemish treatment comes in a small tube in a cardboard outer packaging which you can open up and get the ingredients and more information on the product. One of the reasons The Inkey list is more of an affordable brand is because they keep their packaging simple which saves on costs, this is another reason why I'm obsessed with the brand.

Something different about this blemish treatment is the colour of the product which is green. This product has a green coloured formula that comes from a natural chlorophyll derived plant pigment. This plant can be exposed to different weather conditions and seasons so the shade of green formula may appear different in different lighting. Reading about this product I found out that the colour changes don't affect the efficiency of the formula.

Product Amount

This product is a blemish treatment which means that it isn't a product that's put all over the face, this is actually just used on targetted areas and that is why it is in a smaller tube. This blemish treatment has 15ml worth of product for £6.99 which I think is a really good deal! If you use this product sparingly and only when you really need it, it could last you ages.

Key Ingredients

  • 2% Succinic Acid - Gently reduces blemish size, reduces oil levels and unlocks pores whilst also helping to prevent them from clogging again after
  • 2% Sulfur Powder - Reduces excess oils without drying the skin and helps unclog pores to reduce further breakouts
  • 1% Salicylic Acid - Gently exfoliates the skin reducing dead skin cell build-up whilst helping to shrink blemishes and blackheads
  • 0.4% Hyaluronic Acid - Helps to hydrate the skin

First Impression

Over the years I have tried a number of different spot treatments, some more successful than others but the one thing that they all have in common is that they dry out the spot to get rid of it. This blemish treatment has the added ingredient of Hyaluronic Acid which helps to keep the skin hydrated without drying out the area, This was one of the things that made me really interested in trying out this product.

I started using this blemish treatment when I had a major breakout on my cheeks and chin, they were the kind of spots where they are under the skin and are painful and I thought it would be the best time to give this product a try and see if it really works. Reading the instructions on this product it says to only apply it once a day at first to get your skin used to the product and then up the usage to up to three times a day if needed, I started to use this product just once a day for the first few days and then I decided to use it twice a day to get the full benefits from the cream.

For the first few days, I didn't notice too much difference in my spots, they still appeared pretty red and painful but once I started using it twice a day, after my morning and evening skincare routines, that's when I started to notice a difference. I started to see that the spots I had on my chin didn't grow or get bigger but they gradually started to go away after around 3 days of using this cream morning and evening. For this product to work I used a small amount and only applied it to the targetted areas, when this product was on the skin it dried down quickly and soaked into the skin and it didn't leave my skin with a green tinge so you can actually go out with this product on the skin.

Another reason why I know this product really does work is that after a couple of days using this treatment I decided to wax my lip, whenever I do this I usually get small spots on my upper lip because the pores are open from the waxing. I waxed my lip and then after a few hours when the redness had gone down I applied a really small amount of this product on my lip and the next day there were no spots to be found!

I do have to say though to no expect miracles to happen when you use this product, it's not going to get rid of all your breakouts in a matter of hours, it takes a few days to work and it also means you have to stick to your skincare routine and do it every morning and evening. I am also still using this product twice a day in certain areas to make sure that it keeps the spots away. I still have some scarring leftover from other spots so areas on my cheeks look like there are still spots there but it's actually just scarring that I know is hard to get rid of and I'm hoping this product can help!

Will I continue to use this product

This blemish treatment is now apart of my everyday skincare routine. On the areas that the spots are starting to go, I am still using this product as a preventative measure so no new spots appear. I also want to see if this treatment can help with leftover spot scars!
