This post is slightly different from what I usually write about but apart from Beauty another thing I'm obsessed with is books! I love to read and while we are currently in Lockdown I'm reading a lot more than usual. At the beginning of the year, I put together a list of books I want to read throughout 2021, most or them new but I've also added a few rereads. In today's post, I'll be sharing with you the books on my 2021 Read List!

New Books

Blood Orange

'Allison has it all. A doting husband, adorable daughter, and a career on the rise - She's just been given her first murder case to defend, But all is never how it seems...'

This book was all the rave back in 2020 but I never got round to actually reading it until now. I have actually finished this book as I started reading it at the beginning of January and it only took me around 3 days to finish. If you like twisty thriller type books then I would definitely recommend giving this book a try. I found that the first few chapters of this book were a little slow and it took me a while to get fully invested in the book but the last few chapters are definitely where it gets interesting! Even though I found it slow to start with I definitely wanted to keep reading as I was gripped and needed to know how it ended.

While You Slept

'When a man wearing a picture mask of her daughter Maisie's face stands tauntingly in her garden, Lily Russel does the smart thing and calls the police. When she and Maisie wake up the following morning in an exact replica of their home, held captive by that same man, the police are no longer an option.
Surrounded by the rooms and things that once provide comfort and now only promote fear, Lily and Maisie must fight to survive. Because when no one knows where you are, you are your only hope.'

I found this book when I was scrolling through The Works, they had an amazing offer or 3 books for £5 which I had to take advantage of. This was a book that I've heard of before but reading the description I was instantly intrigued. I have actually recently finished this book, I started reading it and put it down for a while so it did take me slightly longer to finish than Blood Orange. I had mixed feelings about this book, What I liked about this book as that it got right into the story straight away, the issue I had with it is that I thought there needed to be a little more back story on why they were taken. The last few chapters are where it gets really interesting and was hard to put down. I think this book would actually make a really good movie one day!

Ghosts

'32-year-old Nina Dean is a successful food writer with a loyal online following, but a life that is falling apart. When she uses dating apps for the first time, she becomes a victim of ghosting, and by the most beguiling of men. Her beloved dad is vanishing in slow motion into dementia, and she's starting to think about ageing and the gendered double-standard of the biological clock. On top of this, she has to deal with her mother's desire for a mid-life makeover and the fact that all her friends seem to be slipping away from her...'

This book is a little different to what I usually read but I heard a lot of hype surrounding this book and wanted to add it onto my list. I usually like to read either thriller, books with a twist or young adult books with a romantic twist to it so if this book is anything like those I'm sure I'm going to love it. The reason I put this book onto my list is that from reading the description this book just feels real and it feels like it could actually be someone's life and from what I can tell it doesn't sound too far fetched. I'm very excited to start this book and see what happens.

The Catch

'He caught me watching, and our eyes met. There was something not quite right about my daughter's new boyfriend...
Ed finally meets his daughter's new boyfriend for the first time. Smart, successful and handsome, Ryan appears to be a real catch. Then Abbie announces their plan to get married. There's just one problem Ed thinks Ryan is lying to them. Ed's instincts tell him his daughter is in terrible danger - but no one else can see it. With the wedding date approaching fast, he sets out to uncover Ryan's secrets, before its too late...'

Now, this sounds like its perfect for me, anything that has some mystery and I'm sure there's going to be a twist or two in this book. I have actually decided that this is going to be the next book on my list that I'm going to read. I love to read books that I don't want to put down and that I want to get to the end because I need to know what happens but then I also don't want to get to the end because it's so good and I have really high hopes for this book. This book is also super cheap on Amazon at the moment so go pick it up!

The Midnight Library

'Between Life and Death, there's a library.
When Nora Seed finds herself in the midnight library, she has a chance to make things right. Up until now, her life has been full of misery and regret. She feels she has let everyone down, including herself. But things are about to change.
The books in the Midnight library enable Nora to live as if she had done things differently. With the help of an old friend, she can now undo every one of her regrets as she tried to work out her perfect life. But things aren't always what she imagined they'd be, and soon her choices place the library and herself in extreme danger. Before time runs out, she must answer the ultimate question: what is the best way to live?'

I have only read one emotional book before and I was balling like a baby reading it so I usually stay away from them but when I read this description of this book I knew I had to read it! I feel like this would be a book that makes you think about your life and get a bit deep and sometimes that's just what you need a book to do. I also want to read this book because I find the idea of there actually being a midnight library to be so fascinating, to be able to do things differently does sound interesting. I think this book will be really thought-provoking and I'm excited to see what happens!

The Guest List

'A Remote Island, An Invitation To Die For.
On an island off the windswept Irish coast, guests gather for the wedding of the year - the marriage of Jules Keegan and Will Slater.
Old Friends.
Past Grudges.
Happy Families.
Hidden Jealousies.
Thirteen Guests.
One Body.
The Wedding cake has barely been cut when one of the guests is found dead. And as a storm unleashes its fury on the Island, everyone is trapped.
All have a secret. All have a motive. One guest won't leave this wedding alive...'

This book is really the whole package for me, a murder mystery set on an island with no escape, how could this book get better? When I read the description I knew this book had to be added to my read list because it sounded so good. I think in another life I would be a detective because I love any who done it storyline or murder mystery out there. I hate when the back of books give too much away of the story but this book does it perfectly, you know what the story is about without giving too much away. This is probably going to be the book I read after The Catch!

Beach Read

Two writers, one holiday. A romcom waiting to happen...
January is a hopeless romantic who narrates her life like shes the lead in a blockbuster movie. Gus is a serious literary type who thinks true love is a fairy tale. But January and Gus have more in common than you'd think.
They're both broke, They've got crippling writer's block, And they need to write bestsellers before summer ends.
The result? A bet to swap genres and see who gets published first. The risk? In telling each other's stories, their worlds might be changed entirely...

Another genre of book that I am in love with has to be Romance, I am definitely a sucker for a love story and this book definitely sounds like it will be a perfect romantic comedy book. Just from reading the description of the book I am in love with the characters and want to know more about their lives.

A Good Girls Guide To Murder

The case is closed. Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it. But having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the crime, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn't so sure. When she chooses the case as the topic for her final project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. And if the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth...

This is another murder mystery that I knew I had to read but with this book there's a young adult twist to it, For some reason, I love any books set in a high school I guess it reminds me of the good old days! I can tell from just the description of this book that it is definitely something that I can enjoy and it sounds like it could be just another episode of Riverdale, I just love the drama. There's definitely a theme with the books on this list if there's a murder I want to read about it.

The Woman In The Window

What did she see?
It's been ten long months since Anna Fox last left her home. Ten months during which she has haunted the rooms of her old New York house like a ghost, lost in her memories, too terrified to step outside.
Anna's lifeline to the real world is her window, where she sits day after day, watching her neighbours. When the Russells move in, Anna is instantly drawn to them. A picture-perfect family of three, they are an echo of the life that was once hers. But one evening, a frenzied scream rips across the silence and Anna witnesses something no one was supposed to see. Now she must do everything she can to uncover the truth about what really happened. But even if she does, will anyone believe her? And can she even trust herself?

This book just sounds amazing, doesn't it! I love a good mystery book and even better I just found out that book has actually been made into a movie that came out last year, After I read the book I'm definitely watching the movie. When I was reading the description of this book it reminded me of a Gone Girl or The Girl On The Train style book and I loved both of these so I'm sure in going to enjoy this book.

Twilight Series

I know I am a few years too late to this trend I am obsessed with the movies even though they are a little be cheesy and I've only ever read the first book so this year I'm wanting to finish the series. I did the same thing with The Hunger Games trilogy, I love all the movies, I watched them first but when I read the books I fell in love with the characters and the story more and I'm hoping that will happen when I read this series! Also, I'm including Midnight Sun into this list which came out only last year.

Rereads

Even though this year I have added quite a few books already onto my read list I wanted to also add some books that I have already read in the past. There are a few books that I love so much that I want to read again to remind myself of how good they are and these are the books that I have chosen for this year.

All The Bright Places

Theodore Finch wants to take his own life.
Violet Markey is devastated by her sister's death.
They meet on the ledge of the school bell tower, and so their story begins. It's only together they can be themselves...
But as Violet world grows, Finch's begins to shrink. How far will Violet go to save the boy she has come to love?

This book literally had me crying on the bus! It is a heartbreaking book that I read a few years ago and have been putting it off because I know it's going to make me cry. Even though this book has some sad parts it's also a lovely book filled with such amazing characters that you will most definitely fall in love with. This book does have some series topic like loss and suicide so if you are sensitive to these subjects maybe skip this book. This book did so well that Netflix actually made a movie about it in 2019 which I also loved but this book will always have space in my heart because it's such a lovely story.

Looking For Alaska

Miles Halter's whole life has been one big non-event until he meets Alaska Young.
Gorgeous, clever and undoubtedly screwed-up, Alaska draws Miles into her reckless world and irrevocably steals his heart. For Miles, nothing can ever be the same again.

This book was one of the first John Green books that I read years and years ago that I hardly remember how the story goes but I definitely remember loving it. What I do remember about this book though is that it made me fall in love with John Green books, I know they aren't some peoples favourites but I love them with one of my favourites being Paper Towns (the movie was also really good). I'm looking forward to rereading this book and falling back in love with the story again!

Pin For Later...

This year I really hope to get back into reading and tick all of these books off my read list, If you have any more book you think I should add let me know!

  13. How do you make sure your spouse is not cheating on you? you should catch that cheating spouse..! In today’s open society and open minds, open relationship ignorance somehow has crept through the cracks as well, whether implicit or explicit . Now the question is why cheating spouses? I met a hacker who helped save me from the shackles of lies and deceit. I met this tech guru at 'hackingloop6@gmail .com, . He helped me hack into my husband's cell so i got to know of his extra marital affairs, Although i felt bad doing that but i knew my stand in his life.. if you feel you also having the same problem i faced and you feel your spouse is having an affair but keeps denying, you can also text or call the genius on WhatsApp + 1(484) 540-0785 , His services are affordable..
