I started my blog all the way back in 2018 and since then I have found new ways to keep myself and my blog organised. Working full time and having a blog can also be pretty difficult so I thought since the UK is hopefully opening up again soon and I'll be going back to work I would show you how I stay organised with my blog. In today's post, I'll share my tips to keep your blog organised!

Make a plan on what days to post

When I first started blogging I was very unorganised, I would write posts the day before and upload them the next day without any plans but as I started being more consistent with my posts I needed more of a plan. When I have a list of posts at the beginning of the month I sit down with my diary and plan out what days I want each post to be uploaded. Throughout the month I usually change a few dates that's why I tend to write everything down at first with a pencil so it's easy to move anything around if I need to. Having a plan for what days I want each blog post makes my life so much easier especially if I'm busy with work so I don't need to think about what day to do what. Planning my posts for the month has made my life so much easier and if you don't do this yet I would definitely recommend it.

List Everything

I don't feel like I can function properly if I don't have everything written down on a list. I am a pretty organised person and I feel like having lists make everything much simpler and I actually get things done. At the beginning of every month, I sit down and plan out my blog posts for the month, when I know what I'm going to write about I get out one of my (many) notebooks and write each blog post idea down and then list all the topics I'm going to talk about in my post. For example, in my last post about My Favourite High-End Beauty Brands, to plan for this post I wrote a list of all the brands and then added some key points that I would add to the post, this has made writing my blog posts a lot easier and quicker. Other than blog posts I write lists about what photos need to be taken and what props I'm going to use, writing everything down and ticking it off has made it a lot easier to keep track and stay organised.

Have a dedicated day for blog photos

When I'm working it is hard to find the time to take photos because it's either too dark or too light and it makes my posts all unorganised if I'm not ready with my photos. To keep on track I like to have one or two dedicated days to take all of my blog photos for the month so that I'm prepared for all of my posts. I usually post around once or twice a week so it's easy for me to have all my planned posts ready with photos. To do this I have a look at the lists of blog posts I have and prepare all of my photos from flat lays to makeup pictures. I have recently also started adding some makeup videos onto my Instagram so I try to do two of these videos on a weekend so I'm prepared for the whole month. After I've taken all my photos for the month I start editing them, this only takes me a matter of minutes because I use my own preset on Lightroom and after I've done this all of my photos are ready to be added to blog posts. I have a blog post all about how I edit my photos on Lightroom if you would like to know more!

Have a list of blog post ideas

The notes app on my phone has become one of my favourite resources for my blog and keeping lists of blog post ideas is the reason why. When I'm just going about my day and doing random things sometimes a blog post idea will just come out of nowhere and If I don't write it down straight away I will forget it. I do have a notebook that I write all my ideas in but if I'm out and about my phone is the best place to jot everything down in. This also makes it easier when I'm planning posts for the upcoming month, I'll look at the lists I've made and add them into my diary for the next month, this also helps if I'm having writer's block which definitely happens sometimes.

Set out a plan for social media posts

Along with planning your blog posts and photos you also need to have a plan for what you're going to put on social media and when. Going back to my lists, when I'm about to upload a post on a certain day I make another list of what days I'm going to promote my blog post on and what social media sites I will use. Most people schedule their tweets and posts on apps but I haven't gone that far yet (I probably should use an app) but I like to just have a few dates written down next to my blog post and that's when I'll make a tweet promoting my blog. This has made the world of difference to me!

  1. I never thought of making a designated day for photos, but that’s such a good one! I always struggle last minute to find one that fits and I end up with basic stock photos. Thanks for this!
