I have problematic skin, I have finally accepted it and have found products that have helped my skin improve and I can finally feel confident in my own skin without makeup. Having acne-prone skin can be hard but it really isn't the end of the world and once you find products that help with your skin you will definitely see a change in your confidence! In today's post, I'll be sharing with you the products that have made a difference in my skin!

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% & Zinc 1%

Last year I decided to take my skincare seriously and change up my whole routine, I decided to research everything and really find ingredients that will help improve my oily and problematic skin. One ingredient that continuously showed up was Niacinamide, niacinamide is good at minimizing pores and is anti-inflammatory and helps to reduce redness and improve acne which sounded like a perfect ingredient for me. After I decided on the ingredient I then needed to find the product and then I found this serum from The Ordinary.  This serum is described to help blemishes, congestion and sebum overproduction which sounded like everything I needed from a product. I have been using this serum for a few months now and have noticed such an amazing difference. I had very oily skin before using this product, my t zone area would get very oily every couple of hours and I would need to powder constantly but in the last few months, my skin is really not oily at all. I still get areas of oiliness around my nose but not half as much as I used it and I credit this serum for that.

The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser

This is another product that I introduced into my skincare routine last year and it was also a new brand for me to try. The Inkey List is a no-nonsense brand that sells fuss-free products that you know how to use and what's in it without all the added ingredients. Another ingredient that I researched was Salicylic Acid, this ingredient is good for clearing out pores, loosens dead skin cells, reduces sebum and helps to break down spots and all of these benefits together is exactly what I needed with a cleanser. This cleanser is a gel formula that foams up nicely when applied to the skin, after cleansing my skin doesn't feel dry or tight, it actually feels the opposite, it keeps my skin feeling soft and smooth. Another reason why I really love this cleanser is that it is a BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) which means that while cleansing the skin it also mildly exfoliates the skin leaving it looking brighter and also feeling smoother. I use this cleanser morning and evening and my skin still looks great and it helps to keep my blemishes at bay.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo + Moisturiser

This is probably the product that I've been using for the longest time and it has probably helped my skin the most. Before using this moisturiser my skin was really bad, I would constantly get breakouts on my chin and forehead and they would go and just come back but then I started using this moisturiser and my skin became a lot less spotty. This moisturiser works to correct the skin but also keep it hydrated. Before I understood skincare I used to think that stripping my skin of oil would make my skin less oily but it actually did the opposite, my skin becomes more oily so it's so important if you have problematic skin to keep the skin hydrated. Another reason that I'm a big fan of La Roche Posay is that all of their products are great for people with sensitive skin to use because it works to fight acne without being too sensitising for people with sensitive skin.

The Inkey List Succinic Acid Blemish Treatment

This is the newest product that I've added to my skincare routine, I got it soon after it was released. This Succinic Acid treatment is a non-drying product that easily absorbs into the skin to reduce breakouts by gently exfoliating dead skin cells and reducing excess oil without drying and stripping the skin. This product contains 2% Succinic acid which helps to reduce the size of breakouts while the 1% salicylic acid helps to unclog the pores. I have been using this product on and off for a few weeks and have been really impressed with how it has helped with my blemishes. I usually use this blemish treatment when I feel a spot coming on, if I apply this product early enough the spot just seems to go away and not turn into a huge blemish. Another way I have used this product is when I wax my upper lip I usually get a few spots but I have been applying this product on my upper lip a few hours after I've waxed my lip and it stops any spots from coming up!

Pin For Later...

I have been using this product for a while and I won't say that my skin is perfect because that's an unrealistic expectation but my skin has definitely improved and it has made me feel a lot more confident in my own skin! Have you tried any of these products before?

  1. Oooh the blemish treatment sounds fab! I also have problematic skin so I'm always looking for skin recommendations. I find using an acid every now and then also helps improve my skin texture.
