When I first started my blog all the way back in 2018 I wrote a post on how to organise your makeup collection and since then I have changed a lot. I love to constantly change up my storage and keep my vanity looking clean and tidy, so I thought I would share with you how I store my beauty products and what storage items I like to use!

My Vanity

When I first moved out into my flat the first thing that I brought myself was my vanity, I had wanted a space to do my makeup for the longest time but I didn't have any space in my room at home. It took me forever to find one that I wanted that wasn't too expensive and I actually ended up with a vanity that isn't actually a vanity it's a desk from Ikea, its the MICKE desk that has one big drawer that fits quite a lot of stuff (I'm a makeup hoarder so I need the space).

On the top of my vanity I store a lot of stuff, my favourite part is my basket of palettes, I saw this mini gold wire basket from Primark and I had to have it I just wasn't sure what to do with it at first but when my eyeshadow palette drawer got too full (you'll see later) I decided to put all of my Highend palettes into the wire basket and it just looked so cute. Apart from the basket being aesthetically pleasing it's actually really handy because it's just on the left of me when I'm sitting and doing my makeup so I can quickly grab a palette and use it. I try not to have my makeup space too cluttered as well so it keeps all my palettes nicely organised and tidy which I love.

As well as my eyeshadow palettes I also store all of my lip products on top of my vanity. I have done quite a few declutters on my lip products and I still have quite a lot of different products that I store in acrylic drawers that I got from Amazon, I have two separate drawers that I stack on top of each other and in them, I separate my lip products each drawer has a different product like lip balm, lipgloss, liquid lipsticks and lip crayons. Having everything separated makes my life so much easier so I know exactly where everything is and it also looks super cute. I also like to keep my lipsticks separate and I recently found this lipstick stand from Primark for only £3.50 which I thought was amazing, looks so pretty on my vanity and stores 28 lipsticks, perfect for any makeup lover like me!

In the MICKE Ikea desk that I use as a vanity, it has one big drawer that I keep all of my everyday makeup or makeup that I want to easily reach for. In this drawer, I again separate all of my makeup into different sections with little storage baskets that I got from B&M for only £2.50 for 2. These baskets are the perfect size for fitting in the drawer and having a few key makeup products in each one, I separate them into different categories like base products, powder products, eye products and setting sprays. This drawer makes my life so much easier, I add any new makeup or products that I really want to try into this drawer and it reminds me to use them before anything else.

My Makeup Storage Drawers

I have always been obsessed with the IKEA Alex drawers that absolutely everyone has but when I first moved out I couldn't afford them so I got a different option, I went for the TROFAST storage drawers because you can customise which drawers you wanted and it was only £29! They aren't the cutest of storage but for now, they do the job.

On the top of these drawers I have more storage (I know I have a beauty product problem). One of my favourite pieces of storage is my Rotating Makeup Storage Organiser that I got from Amazon, this product is handy because it holds so many products and it makes my vanity look even better! On this organizer I like to put most of my skincare and body care products, there are different sections and I use these to separate all my products and I regularly do declutters of this because I definitely hoard too many products that I don't need.  If you like to be super organised with your beauty products then I would definitely try out this organiser because it's so handy and super affordable.

Also on top of these drawers, I have more storage, I have a set of pink drawers that I actually got from Paperchase (tip if you're looking for cute storage, stationary works really well), in this ser of drawers it holds all of my random bits and pieces that I couldn't find anywhere else for it to go like my makeup sponges, sharpeners and makeup cleaners. On top of this, I also have more products that didn't actually fit on my rotating organiser (I think I'm due a declutter soon...) These products are the newest in my collection and I leave them here so I know I need to try them out and review them.

Now moving on to what's actually inside these drawers, inside it is four drawers that I store all my makeup products in and it keeps them separated and organised. In the first drawer is where I keep all of my base products so primers, concealers, foundations and powders, to keep all of the products separated I use small baskets that I got from Poundland, you get 2 for £1 so I brought loads of them and I use them for all different things around the house. These baskets are super handy at keeping all of my products separated and tidy and I love how tidy it keeps my collection. In the second drawer, I keep all of my blush, bronzer and highlighter products, in the third I have all of my eyeshadow palettes and in the last drawer, I have all the rest of my eye products like my liners, mascaras and single eyeshadows.

The last bit of storage for my makeup is my makeup brushes, I like to have them on display so I can pick whichever brush I need quickly and easily. For my brushes, I actually use plant pots I have three different sized pots that I put different brushes in, the larger pot is for all my face brushes like foundation and blush brushes, in the other two smaller pots I have all of my eye brushes and then brushes that I use on a daily basis. The plant pots I have are from IKEA but there are so many different options on Amazon and in shops like B&M that are just as cute and super affordable.
