{Previously Gifted} Over the last couple of months, I have become obsessed with The Inkey List and have been trying out a lot of their products. This brand has fastly become one of my favourite skincare brands because of their quality products for an affordable price! I recently finished up my favourite La Roche Posay Moisturiser and thought it would be the perfect time to try out The Inkey Lists Multi-Biotic Moisturiser and give you my honest first impression!

Before trying out this product I really didn't know much about it, I hadn't heard of this moisturiser from the brand before and didn't even know who it was suitable for then when I was very kindly gifted it from The Inkey List I decided to do a little research. This moisturiser is actually suitable for all skin types, and it helps to maintain the skins natural pH balance promoting healthy skin and it helps to protect the skin against the environment.

This moisturiser works by combining pro-biotic along with nutrients and by-products to help promote healthy and balanced skin. The skin pH needs to be balanced because an unbalanced pH can help to elevate the skins ageing process, excess oiliness and irritation. When reading this I definitely wanted to give it a try because it can help with my oily skin but also balancing the bacteria in the skin can help breakout-prone skin (which is definitely my skin type).

Packaging

The packaging of The Inkey List products is always the same, a simple white and black bottle in their cardboard outside box. Even though the packing is pretty simple I actually love The Inkey List packaging because as soon as you see it you know what brand it is from and I really like the simplicity of it. Another thing I really like about the packaging is on the outside packaging you get more information about the product, it explains what the product is, how to use the product, how to layer products and the ingredient list. I usually just recycle the outer packaging but I like to keep The Inkey List packaging because it's full of helpful information.

Product Amount & Price

For a moisturiser, I think you get a pretty reasonable amount of product at 30ml and the price of this moisturiser is really affordable at only £12.99. Comparing this moisturizer to my other favourite La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo (+) which is a little bit more expensive at £17 and you get 40ml of product so I guess the products balance each other out because you get a little bit more product in the La Roche Posay but it is also a little bit more expensive. I like to not spend more than £20 on a simple skincare product and this moisturiser fits perfectly into that category.

First Impression

I have been using this moisturiser for around 3 weeks now and I can already start to see a little difference in my skin. With most skincare, it can take over 4 weeks to notice any difference but this one has worked really fast at making great changes in my skin. Before trying this moisturiser for the first time the first thing I did was read some reviews like we all do and some people had some mixed feelings one of the main things I read was that they didn't like the smell of the product but it did perform well so I was definitely intrigued.

Trying it for the first time I definitely noticed this unpleasant smell, I can't quite describe what it smells like maybe similar to something chemical or like a burning smell which I know sounds horrible but once it's applied to the skin you can no longer smell it anymore. I don't actually get too bothered about the smell of skincare products because then I know they haven't added any fragrance to it. Other than the smell I don't actually have any other negative points about this product, I like the consistency, it's lightweight and it absorbs into the skin really quickly and leaves my skin feeling smooth and hydrated.

I have now been using this moisturiser and the changes that I've noticed are that my skin is a lot less oily, I used to have to powder my skin constantly and with the help of this moisturiser and other products in my routine have really helped to improve the excess oil production in my skin. Another benefit I have noticed while using this moisturiser is that since I have started using it I haven't had any breakouts! I usually get a few breakouts a month but I have had none which is amazing for my skin!

Overall I am so impressed with this moisturiser, it did have some minor setbacks like the smell but if you can look past that it is a really lovely product that has helped to keep my problematic skin at bay. Have you heard of this product before?

  2. Oh wow the smell on first impression is a bit of a turn off for me. This brand is everywhere right now but I've held off on making any purchases until I see a really in-depth review like this one.
Smell and fragrance is really important for any and all of my skincare. If it smells like burnt chemicals, it's a big no for me. I recently tried a large brand's night cream and thought it smelt lovely but my boyfriend told me it smelt like mould hahaha

    1. I did think that the smell could be an issue for some people, it definitely isn’t a nice smell but I’ve been using it for a while now and I think I’m getting used to it! I don’t really mind smell but I know it is lovely to use a product that smells lovely too. Have a look at my Favourite The Inkey List products for my other faves from the brand! X

  3. I have not heard about this brand so it was an interesting review to read. I will admit that the smell may put me off from buying it as I am pretty sensitive to things like that even if it does disappear once the product is absorbed. It sounds like an effective cream though so I may have to go and read up more about this company.

    1. The Inkey List is a newer brand but they have some amazingly well in the short time that they have been around. I did think the smell could be a problem for people because it isn’t very pleasant but I would definitely look into other products from the brand! X

  4. I've not heard of this brand and I've not heard of pre-biotic skincare before but wow, if it works as well as that then who cares about a temporarily odd smell! Fab review, Aaliyah, thank you x

  5. Love this - I hadn't heard of this brand before but it looks fab! It's a pity about the smell, although I suppose if it gets absorbed it doesn't really matter! Thanks for sharing, will have to look into this one x
