Winter has definitely arrived in the UK, In the last few weeks it is now getting dark by 4pm and the weather is absolutely freezing! Now that the weather has changed my nighttime routine has also changed. I like to pamper myself a bit more now in the evenings because it's just so cold. I definitely feel like I should have been born in a warmer country because I cannot stand the cold weather that is why I need a specific Winter Nighttime Routine! In this post,  I'll be sharing with you what I do in my new winter nighttime routine.

Skincare Time

The first thing I do when I get home after a long day is take all my makeup off, There really is no better feeling than a freshly cleansed face. My skincare routine doesn't change too much during the winter because I like to keep my routine as simple as possible but I like to add a few products to help when my skin feels dehydrated. I have combination skin leaning more on the oily side but whenever the cold weather hits my skin there are areas on my skin that become dry and dehydrated so that is when I start using a facial oil. I usually don't like using oils on my skin but whenever my skin needs some extra love I like to add in the Emma Hardie Brilliance Facial Oil, This oil is designed to hydrate and smooth the skin which this oil definitely does. I use such a small amount of this oil because it spreads over the skin and leaves it looking and feeling hydrated and nourished.

Another thing I like to do more in my winter routine is using an overnight mask, Using an overnight mask has helped my skin to still feel amazingly smooth even when I wake up the next morning. The mask I use a lot in the winter is the Dr Botanicals Pomegranate Superfood Regenerating Sleeping Mask which I mentioned in my Top 3: Masks post. This mask is the best product for keeping my skin hydrated for hours and when I wake up the next day my skin really does feel amazingly smooth and is a product I Would recommend anyone with dry skin to try.

Bath Time

I am 100% a bath girl, especially in the winter. There is nothing I like more than coming home after a long day at work or being out in the cold and having a nice long bath. I don't usually use a bath bomb every day but when I'm feeling particularly stressed and need a little more relaxation I always use a bath bomb. One of my favourite bath bombs to use now that it's nearly Christmas is the Lush Snow Fairy bath bomb that smells amazing just like bubblegum and makes the bath go a gorgeous pink colour and it also gives off a buttery foamy coating which leaves my skin feeling amazingly soft.

During the winter I tend to use body scrubs a lot more than usual. My skin tends to be a lot drier during the winter because the cold air seems to suck all of the moisture out of my skin. I like to use a body scrub around twice a week just to make sure all the dead skin has been buffed away from my skin. The scrub I have been using a lot lately is the Monuskin Walnut & Shea Butter Body Polish, I love this scrub because it is super gentle on the skin but it still effectively exfoliates my skin and leaves it feeling super soft.

Another product that I use a lot more during the winter is the L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil, this is probably the most moisturising shower product that I own and yes it's a little bit more than I usually like to spend on a shower product but it is definitely worth it. Whenever I use this product my skin seems to soak in all the oil and it leaves my skin feeling nourished and smooth. At first, I wasn't too sure about using an oil product in the bath but as soon as you start lathering it up it turns into milky consistency which keeps the skin moisturised and smooth even when I get out of the bath.

To finish off my bath routine I like to moisturise my skin to make sure that it keeps as much moisture in as possible and I like to use an old favourite of mine which is the Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Body Cream. I have been using this product on and off for years and it has been a product that I have gone back to because it's super affordable but also helps to keep the skin feeling really smooth even hours after I've used it.

Relax Time

Once I've taken off all my makeup and had a bath I like to have time to myself and get really relaxed. I find my best way to relax is when I'm reading, I get curled up on my sofa with a blanket and read for a few hours. Recently I have been reading a lot of crime thrillers that are quite heavy like The Split which I loved but I wanted to start reading something light-hearted and fun so I've started The Unhoneymooners which I'm really enjoying. Im only a few chapters in at the moment and I love that it is funny and also romantic, what else could you want in a book!

Another way I like to relax after a long down is to sit and binge watch Netflix. Recently I have been rewatching Gilmore Girls which is a yearly tradition of mine, every time it gets to the winter months I start a rewatch of it so it usually takes me straight up until Christmas! There's nothing better than rewatching a comfort show in the winter.
