I first made one of these posts back at the end of 2020, I went through all of the famous beauty trends of that year and gave my rating on them and now I thought I'd do the same for 2021! 2021 was the year of Tik Tok, I know it has been around for years now but I know there have been so many trends created just from the app. Last year there was a load of new and fun trends that I'm going to rate for you today!
For the rating process I'm going to be creating each of the trends out of 5 and at the end of the post I'll let you know my favourite trend from 2021.

Faux Freckles 4/5

Faux Freckles was one of the most popular trends throughout 2021 and I think they may be one of the cutest. I have seen so many people of tik tok and Instagram do this trend and they just make it look so good. I haven't tried out this trend myself because I feel like I wouldn't be able to master it but I do think it's really cute. There have also been so many different ways that you can actually do this trend, you can use makeup, self-tan to make it last longer and I've even seen people use henna or get the freckles tattooed on their face for a much longer-lasting technique. The most popular way I've seen to get the fake freckle look is by using a faux freckle pen like the Lottie London Freckle Tint that is a temporary skin tint that creates really natural-looking freckles to give makeup a real skin appearance.

90's Makeup 2/5

The '90s made a comeback in 2021, from the clothes to the hairstyles and the makeup the '90s was all the rage last year. I was born in the late 90's so I was a kid when all of these styles were around so I didn't get to experience it so it was fun seeing the comeback in 2021. My rating of 2/5 is a little bit harsh but it's only because as much as it was fun to see all of the '90s inspired looks I think some things should be left in the past specifically thin eyebrows! There are a few things from the '90s that I actually think are pretty cute like brown lipstick and all the glitter. Over on Tik Tok, I saw so many '90s inspired looks and they did look so cute but it's something that I wouldn't wear on a daily basis, it would definitely be fun for a fancy dress party though!

No Makeup Makeup 4/5

2021 was also the year of minimalism and I think that also was true for makeup. A lot of people including myself started to wear a lot less makeup and go for the no-makeup makeup look. Even though it looks like you are not wearing a lot or any makeup it actually tasks a bit of skill to perfect the no-makeup makeup look and to make it look effortless. I love doing the no-makeup makeup look on myself, there are days when I want a full glam look but on other days I like to look natural and a little glowy. Some products I like to use or a no-makeup makeup look is my Bali Body BB cream, this product gives me a gorgeous luminosity without looking greasy and I like using cream products to make me look at natural as possible.

Nose Blush 3/5

Throughout 2021 I saw a lot of people doing the Nose Blush trend which I think does look really cute but it isn't really the look for me. The trend I think was started on Tik Tok to get the 'e-girl' look which isn't really my thing but it is a very cute look. I've been doing my makeup for years and it felt wrong putting blush on my nose, I did try it to see what the fuss was about, I looked a bit odd but it was a fun look to do. I think this trend isn't really for a daily basis makeup look similar to '90s makeup but it is a really fun look that can look cute if it's done right. I've seen people do this trend with the classic blush but I've also seen people do it with a highlighter and that looks extra cute.

Feather & Soap Brows 4/5

This trend I think actually started back in 2020 but I've seen so many people with the soap brow look last year that I had to add it into this list. Soap brows are when you use a thicker product like soap instead of a gel to keep the brow hairs standing up which gives them a fluffy appearance. Throughout 2021 I noticed a few brands brought out their own products to help you achieve the soap brow look without using soap like Iconic London Brow Silk and Brush and the Makeup Revolution Soap Styler. I tried this trend on myself last year and I really didn't suit the look but I think it looks so cute on other people because it gives the effect of much fuller and fluffier brows. A new beauty treatment was also really popular in 2021 and that was brow lamination, this is a treatment that helps to give the fluffy brow look but is more of a semi-permanent option if you don't want to do the makeup everyday.

Graphic Liner 4.5/5

Graphic Liner made a huge impact on 2021, I saw everyone trying out all different really fun looks with liquid liner and it's something that I've always wanted to try but have never really been brave enough. What I like most about the graphic liner is that there are so many different ways that you can create so many different looks and styles. I think with graphic liner it takes practice because you want the lines to look sharp but it is also a look that should be really fun. I didn't try many looks in 2021 but I think this trend will carry on in 2022 so I'm definitely going to give it a go this year. I've also seen so many cute products that can be used for the graphic liner like Glisten Cosmetics Tinsel Split Liners and Revolve by Revolution Water Activated Liner I cannot wait to try out some new and fun liner looks.

I think my favourite trend from 2021 would have to be the Graphic Liner followed closely by the No-Makeup Makeup look. I love these trends because they are timeless you can do these looks any year and they are just super cute and can be done with anyone with a little practice (or for me a lot of practice).

I'm definitely all for the no makeup makeup & even though I'm terrible at doing liner, I LOVE seeing all the graphic liner looks.
I agree with you on the nose blush too! It can look cute, but it's not something I would do.
