Living in 2022 is hard, the cost of living is rising and if you're like me you do not completely want to give up your little luxuries then this post is for you. I am definitely the bargain queen, if I can get something cheaper I will! Makeup and Skincare are one of the things I love to spend my money on but I also like to save in the process so I've made a list of things you can do to save money on beauty products to help you through this money slump!

Buy beauty products at Tk Maxx

One of my favourite places to go and buy makeup and skincare items is Tk Maxx, you can get high-end makeup for a much lower price, I have found some real gems shopping in Tk Maxx and it is a place I recommend everyone go to to save a few extra pennies. Whether you shop online or in-store you are bound to get a great deal on items like makeup, skincare, body care and hair care products. In Tk Maxx, I have found some amazing deals on makeup that I use every day like the Becca Weightless Blur Foundation for only £6.99 and the Huda Beauty Gemstone Obsessions Palette for only £9.99!

Shopping in Tk Maxx Top Tips:
  • Only buy items that have been sealed, there have been so many times I've seen people test out makeup and then put it back when there are no testers available, to save yourself from this only buy products that have not been touched!
  • Check expiration dates, most skincare and makeup has an expiration date and usually, beauty products that get sent to Tk Maxx are still in date but double-check to be sure. You can do this by checking the batch number online
  • If you need to check shades of products search it up online instead of opening the packaging
  • If you see anything you want buy it there and then as it may not be there the next time you go!

Buy from second-hand sites like Depop

I know it sounds a little scary to buy makeup products from sites like depop but it's a great way to save a few extra pennies and it also stops products from being wasted which is a big plus for me. I have previously brought products and I have also sold makeup items before for example, I purchased the Juvias Place Magic Mini Palette which is usually £24 and I got it from a lovely seller for only £10 and I've sold makeup that I've barely used and that would go to waste if I kept it.

Shopping on second-hand sites top tips:
  • Make sure you are buying from a trustworthy seller, I have been scammed before on Depop and it is not fun, make sure to check out their reviews to see if they are trustworthy or not.
  • Only buy makeup that either hasn't been used or is only slightly used. There have been times when I've been scrolling through and seen makeup being sold that looks like it's been heavily used
  • Buy makeup that can be sanitised, I usually only buy powder products from these sites because they are the easiest product to sanitise. To sanitise makeup all you need is to spritz it with some isopropyl alcohol to make sure it's safe to use!

Only buy products when you really need them

This is a hard one for me because I always want to try out the newest product, especially because I like to review products but to save some money I have decided to only buy products when I need them. I have been doing this for a few months now and it really helped me to stop my random beauty purchases, I now only buy things until I run out of what I'm using or if it's expired and I need to replace a certain product. Now I will admit that I do sometimes purchase things because I really want them but this is only occasionally and I'm not too strict on myself. Doing this has really helped me to save a bit of extra money on my spontaneous makeup-buying trips.

Look for the best deals online

I would definitely say that I am a deal queen! there's nothing I love more than searching sites and finding the best deals for the same product. Any time I'm looking to purchase a beauty product I search it up on multiple websites and always go for the cheapest option, for example, if I'm looking to repurchase my under-eye concealer which is the Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser Concealer I will check a few different websites like Look Fantastic, Boots and Superdrug that all had it for £8.99, but then I look on Amazon and it was only £5.74, Just My Look and it was only £5.99 and Savers and it was £5.98! This can be a little time-consuming but if it saves me some extra pennies on the same product then I'm definitely going to do it!

Like or Save a product on their websites

I learned this tip by just doing a little makeup window shopping one day and discovered that if you like, save or add items to your bag and leave it there for some time (or forget about it) some brands will send you an email to alert you that you have items waiting and may send you a discount code! I have done this a few times and have received 10% or sometimes even 15% off my order just because I've left items in my basket without checking out. If you're wanting to do a little beauty product shopping then give this tip a go and see if it works for you.

Use Promo Codes

This is obviously a very easy one and probably one that we all use but sometimes it's one that I forget to do and then after I've placed my order I'm kicking myself. Before I make a purchase through a website I look up to see if there are any promo codes that can be used on that site, For this, I use websites like Voucher Codes and I have recently just discovered Honey (not an ad I just love this website!), its a website that scans the internet to find you discount codes while your shopping! It made finding discount codes so much easier and quicker. I have honey added on to my chrome extension and it does all the work for you which is amazing!

Use TopCashback

I have been using TopCashback for months and it is such a great way to get back a few pennies after your purchases. The easiest way to use TopCashback is to get the extension onto your computer and then when you shop it will pop up that you can use their link to shop through and get cashback. I have used this on websites like Boots, Cult Beauty and many more, I've even used it when I was booking my holiday through Tui. The only issue I will say with TopCashback is that it can take months for the money to be available to withdraw but when you are able to it's like free money (to do more shopping with!).
