I am definitely a bargain hunter, if I can find something for cheaper or if I have a product that can be used multiple ways then it's definitely an amazing product to me. Multi-use skincare is just the best, especially if it's already an affordable product like The Ordinary Glycolic Acid. Researching this product, I have found some amazing uses for it that can help improve your skin! In today's post, I'll be sharing with you all of the benefits I have found from using this toner!

1. Toner

This is the obvious use for this product but it had to be mentioned because of the amazing benefits that it has for your skin. I have been using this product as a toner for around a year now and have noticed some amazing improvements in my skin. This toner's main ingredient is Glycolic Acid which is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) this ingredient helps to gently exfoliate the skin and improve the texture. Using this toner has helped my pores to appear less visible and the blackheads on my nose have virtually disappeared. Since using this toner I no longer use any physical exfoliators because that can cause my skin to become sensitive and it can also create micro-tears in skin the but using this product I get the benefits from exfoliation by just using this as a toner. This product can cause slight irritation if you have sensitive skin but introducing it to your skin slowly will help and you will get all the benefits from this amazing toner!

2. Get rid of Ingrown Hairs

There is nothing I hate more than ingrown hairs, whether they are on your legs, underarms or bikini line they are annoying and can be painful. I have tried a lot of different things to help keep the ingrown hairs at bay and nothing has ever worked until I started using a small amount of this toner on these areas. Ingrown hairs occur when the hair grows back and cannot come through the skin because it curls back into itself, this can happen after shaving and if the skin is dry. Exfoliation is one of the main ways to help get rid of ingrown hairs and Glycolic Acid has exfoliating properties so it helps to remove dead skin cells which will then help the hair to grow properly. The best way to use this product is to apply it to the skin using a cotton pad, ideally in the evening as prolonged sun exposure can cause irritation. I usually use this product after I've had my bath or shower in the evening and before bed and once a day is enough to help keep the ingrown hairs at bay!

3. Lighten darkened underarms

Not everyone has this but I am someone who suffers from darkened underarms. Hyperpigmentation is the reason for dark underarms and it can be common for people with darker skin like mine, there isn't any harm in having dark underarms but it can be something you want to get rid of especially during the summer months. Regular shaving is one of the main reasons for this because when we shave the skin becomes irritated which then causes the pigment cells to reproduce faster, causing the darkened look to the underarms. I have this and it makes me conscious whenever I'm wearing sleeveless tops or vests so I've recently started to use this Glycolic Acid toner on my underarms to help get rid of the dark look. Using glycolic acid on your underarms can help to fade the pigmentation and improve the texture of the skin so you have smoother underarms. Another big plus about using this product on your underarms is that glycolic acid helps to lower the skin's pH level which means it won't produce as much bacteria or odour! The best way to use this toner is to only use it once or twice a week again in the evenings after having a bath or shower but Do Not apply it straight after hair removal as it will irritate the skin and could cause a reaction!

4. Removes hard skin

In the summer hard skin around our feet, knees and elbows can become a problem and something that we want to get rid of another amazing use for this toner is that it helps to soften the skin in these areas! This toner is an AHA which means that its exfoliating properties help to reduce those rough, hard skin areas on the body. It does this by increasing the cell turnover and also shedding the top layer of the skin to reveal smoother and softer skin. With this, I would still moisturise the skin and then a few times a week, best to do it after your evening bath or shower, I would then apply the toner to these areas with a cotton pad lightly or you can use your hands but because its pretty watery I always found a cotton pad to be easier. After a few weeks of using this product, you will see a noticeable difference in these dryer areas on your skin.
