I have been renting my flat now for 4 years and only in the last year have I started to add my touch. When I first moved in, I didn't want to put any prints or posters on the walls because I didn't want to make any holes or any mess but now that I've been here 4 years and we aren't looking to move any times soon I thought it would be the perfect time to add my touch on the flat and that's where Poster Store comes in!

I recently got contacted by Poster Store to use some of their amazing prints in my bedroom to add a bit of colour and style to my room and I have been looking at prints for ages not knowing what I wanted so this came at the best time for me!

When I first moved into my flat, I was so cautious of every little mark and knock on the walls because I know that’s a dent in my deposit but now, I’ve been living here for 4 years I’ve realised that there’s no way that I won’t make a few marks on the wall and all things can be covered so this is when I finally decided that I want some prints on my walls, especially behind my bed.

Behind my bed was just a big blank wall slapped with Magnolia paint so I definitely wanted to make my room feel a bit homier and prints would definitely make that happen. My bedroom is the one room in my flat where I like to escape and relax at the end of a long day and adding some cute prints is just what the room needed to bring everything together and make the room my little sanctuary.

This was the hardest part for me because Poster Store has so many options! I was probably scrolling through all of the prints for about an hour, I couldn’t decide what style I wanted to what design or colours to go for, it was stressful but a fun kind of stressful if you know what I mean. When I was scrolling through for ages and not really getting anywhere, I love that on the Poster Store site they actually have an Inspiration Page with photos of the most gorgeous rooms with the prints on the walls and that really helped me decide on the style I wanted and what prints to go for.

After looking around for ages I finally narrowed it down to three large prints for behind my bed, one smaller print for my bedside table and two really small prints that I thought would be perfect to add in my flatlays. The next big decision to make was how to actually make the gallery wall, when I was ordering the prints, I was trying to picture in my head how it would look, the plan was to have the biggest print in the middle and the two smaller prints on the outside, meaning if I wanted to add more prints I could!

I am so happy with the prints that I picked, the largest print which is 50x70cm is a black and white photo of the Eiffel Tower, I am obsessed with Paris I’ve only been once and I dream of going again one day but at least now I can see a bit of Paris every day with this print I also decided to frame it on the gold frame which I got for all my prints, you can order prints with or without a frame which I love. The two mid-sized prints I order that are 30x40 cm each are maybe my favourites, they are both zoomed-in photos of pink and purple flowers, I wanted to add just a touch of colour and doing it this way was perfect, I have hints of pink décor around my room, so it ties everything in together.

When I’ve previously added photos to my walls in the flat I have always used Command Picture Hanging Strips and I ordered a packet just for these prints. The frames on these prints are quite thin and they are even thinner than the strips themselves, but I just added an extra strip to each photo, and they have held up really well! If you are renting, I would definitely recommend trying out these strips because they leave no damage to the walls after you remove them!

The last set of prints I got for my bedroom was a small-sized print that is 21x30cm and it’s a black and white photo of Marilyn Monroe, this picture is such a gorgeous photo and I got it in a smaller size so I could have it on my bedside table, this print really helps to finish off the décor on my bedside table and it’s the perfect size that I could move it around to different areas of the room if I wanted to. I also ordered two very small prints at 13x18cm that I thought would be perfect to have as background props for my flatlays, the prints are the cutest with one having a flower and the other having clouds, just looking at these prints makes me feel relaxed.

  5. Your room looks so lovely and cosy now! I love that little setup with Marilyn and the candles. And I can't believe you've waited so long to add your own little touch (I mean, I can, your reasons make perfect sense), but it's nice to add your own little pieces to make somewhere properly feel like home x

  6. I love the prints you picked! They're lovely. It can be a bit of a pain in a rented place but I'm sure after 4 years it's much more homely to have some prints up!
