One day while scrolling through Instagram I came across an ad for Gruum sunscreen, Gruum is a brand I had never heard of before but I had been looking for a new face SPF for a while so I thought I'd give it a go. To my surprise, this product was actually free and you only needed to pay for delivery so I knew I had to buy this SPF and give it a go. I've now been using this product for just over a week now and it's the perfect time to share my thoughts with you!

Gruum is a brand that is completely new to me so before buying the SPF I did a little research about the brand. Gruum is a brand that was created by four friends in Manchester, who designed their affordable brand with Scandinavian ideals. They also create skincare products that are unisex and suitable for anyone and everyone. They only use quality ingredients and cut out all the fancy packaging and labels to keep costs low. The brand had three core principles Simplicity, Honesty, and Fairness, all of their products are made in the UK, Cruelty-free and the majority of their products are also Vegan friendly.

Everything that I read about the brand I loved, I love that it's a brand created in the UK which helps to keep transport and emissions to a minimum. Any brand that uses quality ingredients but also keeps its prices low is a winning brand for me. Reading the philosophy of the brand reminded me of other brands such as The Inkey List which is one of my favourites at the moment because of their amazing quality products but also low prices.

Packaging

The packaging of the SPF is really simple but still pretty cute. There isn't any fuss when it comes to the packaging it's really simple and basic but in a good way. The bottle itself is in a rectangular shape and when I was reading some reviews before buying it some people were saying it can be hard to get the product out but I think once you get near the end just store the product upside down. On the front of the packaging, there's a sticker with the product information on like the SPF number and UVA star rating and on the back, there's further product information and the ingredients. Overall I quite like the packaging of this product and think it's really cute.

Product Amount & Price

Looks can be deceiving when it comes to this product because it looks tiny, the packaging that it's in makes it look like there isn't much product inside but in fact there is 50ml. Comparing this product to my La Roche Posay moisturiser which looks a lot bigger and looks like there would be more product inside actually has 10ml less than this product as 40ml. For 50ml of product, this SPF is only £6 which I think is amazing, when applying this to your face you shouldn't need to apply too much so this SPF should last ages!

Key Features

  • 5* UVA Protection
  • SPF 50
  • Water-resistant
  • Lightweight formula
  • Hypoallergenic
  • UVA and UVB protection

First Impression

When I first got this SPF the first thing that I wanted to test out was whether it had a white cast to it, the formula of this SPF is more on the thicker side than I've used before but when I applied a small amount to my hand it blended out really easily and didn't leave any white cast on the skin which is amazing for me and my skin tone. Another thing I was really curious about was if this product had a smell to it, I really don't like the smell of suncream but as soon as I opened the bottle I literally smelt nothing, no smell at all, and that was another big plus for me.

When applying this SPF for the first time I squeezed out a bit more than I actually needed, this SPF spreads really nicely over the skin so you don't actually need a lot of product. Over the next few days of using this product, I got the hang of only using around half a squeeze and it was the perfect amount to cover my whole face and even my neck. I have combination skin and can get oily on my nose and t-zone area so I thought this SPF might look a little greasy on my skin but in fact, it soaked into the skin really quickly and actually left the skin looking glowy and healthy.

This product is now the last step in my morning skincare routine. Makeup applies really nicely on top of this SPF and it lasts really well without looking oily or greasy. This product is also perfect for everyday use because it doesn't clog up my pores and it leaves my skin feeling really smooth. Overall I am super impressed with this SPF, it does everything I need an SPF to do, it doesn't have a smell to it, has no white cast, and is really affordable. There really aren't any negatives with this product and that is amazing!
